About the Opportunity:
The College of Journalism and Communications’ (https://www.jou.ufl.edu/) department of Media Production, Management, and Technology (https://www.jou.ufl.edu/mpmt/) seeks an innovative leader and experienced research professional to teach in the Management and Strategy (https://catalog.ufl.edu/UGRD/colleges-schools/UGJRC/TEL_BSTE/TEL_BSTE01/) track. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting original research in the field of media management including, but not limited to:
Media Management, Strategy, and Marketing
Media Organization, Market Structure/Concentration, and Policy
Emerging Media Consumption and Business Implications
Technology Management and User Experience Management
Media Consumer/Audience Analysis
Entertainment Media Management and Content Marketing
The Professor in Media Management will teach core courses and elective courses in the Department of Media Production, Management, and Technology. Highly qualified candidates may have opportunities to develop new courses and teach graduate-level courses within the College of Journalism and Communications.
Additionally, qualified candidates will demonstrate a solid theoretical basis for addressing emerging trends in the media and technology industries using quantitative and/or qualitative perspectives.
About the Department of Media Production, Management, and Technology:
The Department of Media Production, Management, and Technology is one of the premier programs in the country, offering courses related to mass media and emerging media. Our curriculum prepares students for the media industry through three specializations: Digital Film and Video Production, Management and Strategy, and Media and Society. The department has about 500 students and 19 full-time faculty. Students from the department pursue careers in film production, TV program production, social media management, brand management, consumer analysis, UI/UX design, and digital marketing.

Commensurate with experience.
Minimum Requirements:
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in a field related to media and communication, or in a field related to social sciences with a focus on media and communication by August 2025.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven record of scholarship in media management, economics, or a related area that led to strong publications.
Experience conducting original research that examines media management
Strong background in utilizing a theoretical basis for addressing emerging trends in the media and technology industries using quantitative and/or qualitative perspectives.
Experience with or knowledge of processes to secure internal and external funding through publication.
Strong track record of enhancing and nourishing a collaborative environment that supports growth and development of all students and employees.
Experienced instructor who fosters an environment of excellence.
Demonstrated potential in establishing a national and international reputation.
