Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
Assist with patient evaluations, run equipment and assist in all aspects of patient testing visits; Independently assess the laboratory calendar; Setup and calibrate all required equipment based on the patient’s reason for referral; Prepare all visit documentation including both paper and electronic forms; Proactive in assisting with cleaning and sanitizing following patient testing
Assist with data collection and processing and analysis for all movement assessments in children and young adults; Be prepared to assist in any aspect of data collection on any patient test conducted in the lab.; Knowledgeable of all ongoing research testing protocols and/or the location of all project Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); Assist lab staff with pre-processing and/or post-processing of motion capture or other Movement Science Lab data as assigned
Provide technical assistance for the Movement Science Lab; Assist bioengineer with calibration and/or quality assurance testing of Movement Science Lab equipment as assigned
Serve as research assistant to the Movement Science Lab senior staff; Collect data from Movement Science Lab and/or Medical Record charts; Generate data reports and perform quality assurance checks as required; Organize data and generate data summaries for the PI or other study personnel to conduct statistical analyses; Assist in abstract preparation; Present research findings or study updates at in-house conferences (e.g., MSL Research or Staff meetings, Journal Club, study group meetings, etc.)
Cross-trained to assist in all phases of motion analysis testing including instrumenting patients for evaluations, and running data collection using motion analysis equipment and software
Demonstrates ability to interact with pre-school, school-age, and adolescent children at developmentally appropriate levels
Other reasonably related duties as assigned; Assist with the maintenance of adequate laboratory supplies; Read and appraise literature; Attend in-house conferences and departmental research meetings relevant to the MSL and pediatric orthopedics
Required Skills/Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in bioengineering, biomechanics, computer science, kinesiology or related field with an interest in biomechanics, motion analysis or clinical research Required
Experience with computers (Required) and programming (Preferred, but not required, especially for non-engineering majors)
Knowledge of biomedical terminology, anatomy and biomechanics Preferred
Knowledge or previous experience in a Movement Science Lab Preferred, but not required
