Reporting to the department manager, the Perinatal Safety Specialist is responsible for the implementation, promotion, support and oversight of perinatal patientsafety and quality of care initiatives and programs. This specialized nursing role combines clinical expertise with a focus on patient safety to provide high-quality care and support to pregnant women and their families, adhering to departmental, institutional, regional and Federal clinical and ethical standards.
The primary responsibility of the perinatal patient safety nurse is to promote safe care for mothers and babies by keeping patient safety as a focus of all unit operations and clinical practices.
This a shared position amongst 3 hospitals, St Anthony Summit Hospital, Longmont, and St Elizabeth. This is a 0.8 position so the candidate would be expected to be at each hospital about 20+% of the time. Some remote work would be possible. Travel would be expected.
Mileage reimbursement is applicable for this position.
Qualifications:
In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Master's Degree preferred
Minimum of 5 years as a clinician in Women's Services
Minimum of 1 years of project experience in Women and Intants Perinatal Safety with 2 years preferred
Experience with quality improvement, process improvement techniques, project and program management experience required
Current RN license
Certification in one of the following (must obtain within 6 months): CCRN-NEO, C-EFM, RN-BC MCN, RN-BC-PERI, RNC [OB, GYN,NEONATAL], RNC-LRN, RNC-MNN, RNC-NIC, RNC-OB, C-EFM, CONQS
BLS
NRP within 90 days
Driver's license strongly preferred
Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
