The Salvation Army Outreach and Engagement Specialist in Fresno, California

Description

OVERVIEW:

The primary objective of this position is to engage and aid individuals in increasing their housing stability. The mobile outreach team will drive to designated areas in Fresno, Merced, and Madera.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local organizations

  • Collaborate with all community partners to create a seamless service delivery

  • Provide housing assistance

  • Maintain weekly contact with clients

  • Provide case management services to clients with varying degrees of vocational, social, cultural, and/or medical impairments hindering self-sufficiency

  • Provide formal and informal referrals to community resources

  • Maintain client service records in the social services database and HMIS

  • Maintain required forms and reports in the prescribed format

  • Collaborate with all community partners to create a seamless service delivery

  • Participate in staff meetings and in applicable training

  • Track, analyze, and input data relevant for county, donor, and internal stakeholders

  • Coordinate services with The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Centers

  • Administer Pastoral Care including prayer

  • Other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (required)

  • CA driver’s license (required)

  • Associate degree in Social Work or Psychology (preferred)

  • Experience working in Social services (2 years preferred)

  • Experience with Microsoft programs

  • Experience using social services database

  • T uberculosis clearance (within the first seven days of employment – company provided)

  • Complete the Bloodborne Pathogen training (within 90 days of employment - company provided - required)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of social services programs

  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)

  • Team player

  • Detail oriented

  • Great communication skills

EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes)
