Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Contract and Change Order Specialist to be based in Fresno, CA .

SUMMARY:

The Contract and Change Order Specialist is responsible for supporting the preparation, negotiation, administration, and execution of contracts and change orders throughout the lifecycle of construction or program projects. This role assesses and guarantees that contracts are executed in accordance with program policies, legal requirements, and project specifications. The Contract and Change Order Specialist also maintains and tracks changes in project scope, schedule, and cost by processing change orders, maintaining accurate documentation, and confirming that all parties are aligned with the changes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draft, review, and support contract negotiations to ensure alignment with project policies, standards, and legal requirements

  • Maintain accurate and complete contract documentation, ensuring timely signatures and a comprehensive record of contracts and related documents

  • Assist in preparing and submitting contract proposals, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations

  • Coordinate with teams to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws, and project standards

  • Manage and track change orders, ensuring proper documentation, approval, and integration into the project scope, schedule, and budget

  • Collaborate with project management and finance teams to incorporate change orders into financial tracking systems and update project budgets and schedules accordingly

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to contracts and change orders, minimizing disputes and ensuring adherence to contractual obligations

  • Review and track claims, disputes, or issues arising from contracts and change orders, escalating as necessary

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Business Administration, Law, or a relevant discipline

  • 5+ years of experience in contract administration, project management, or a related field, preferably in civil construction or large-scale projects

  • Strong understanding of contract law, change order processes, and project management principles

  • Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and change orders

  • Familiarity with contract management software

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a focus on accuracy and compliance

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence at all levels

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar project management certification

  • Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams and large-scale projects

  • Familiarity with international standards and civil construction regulations

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and manage competing priorities

  • Experience with risk management practices in civil construction projects

  • Knowledge of relevant safety and quality standards in civil construction

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $72,300.00 - $133,810.00.
