POSITION SUMMARY:

The maintenance planner is an integral part of a world-class maintenance organization. The primary purpose of this position is to develop and execute systems that maximize maintenance efficiency and effectiveness. Focus is on implementing robust systems in the areas of Maintenance Planning & Scheduling (to most efficiently utilize planned downtime), Breakdown Elimination (to minimize unplanned downtime) and Regulatory Compliance (planning and scheduling maintenance activities to comply with internal and external regulatory requirements). These systems are to be implemented and maintained, driving standardization across the plant. Both systems are vital to sustainable process and equipment reliability improvement. The Maintenance Planner will also develop and maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works effectively with a diverse “customer” group, (production operations, production planning, maintenance resources, Safety, Quality, etc.), to understand, meet/exceed expectations, manage conflicting priorities and achieve desired business results.

Must be able to understand the scope of work to accomplish tasks such as scheduling Predictive, Preventive, Corrective, and Third-Party maintenance throughout the plant by coordinating work based on the Production schedule. Responsible for checking and responding to email, checking new notifications for priority and safety issues, planning and scheduling PM’s, WO’s, and Contractor work for daily activities, shutdowns, and major repairs. Attends production planning meetings and operational reviews to communicate with supervision and the Business Units to understand the production schedule, available equipment, and equipment needs.

Maintains operations by ordering materials, sending material out for repair, preparing parts kits, entering Purchase Requests (PR), completing goods receipts (GR), as well as creating NLAGs and ERSAs in SAP as needed. Works closely with vendors to order materials and guarantee timely arrival to limit production disruptions. Verifies materials have been received prior to scheduling work. Communicates and works closely with the MRO Buyer and Technical Stores to accomplish tasks. Provides supervisors with a maintenance plan which contains the daily work list.

Analyzes and cross references maintenance data to further optimize maintenance planning and resources; historical PM frequency, equipment breakdowns, compliance requirements, 3rd party cost/availability, etc. Continuously Improves the maintenance systems (AMM/CMMS) and workflows.

Technically Completes (TECO) all PM03 work orders. Research and updates BOMs (Bill of Materials). Implements spare part management systems to drive down spare part inventory costs while ensuring that spare parts are available when needed. Runs work order reports, weekly KPI reports, etc. and maintains paperwork by using the computer systems.

Provides support/leadership in developing and tracking maintenance costs while driving cost reduction opportunities in 3rd party services, parts, and labor, where feasible.

Acts as a backup to Maintenance supervision when needed

Responsible for utilizing external resources, based on workload and windows of opportunity, when needed

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

AS/AA/BS/BA degree preferred. 3 years supervisory and/or maintenance planning experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

EXPERIENCE:

3-5 years progressive experience in a manufacturing environment.

SAP/CMMS experience is highly preferred

Experience in Food Manufacturing or Pharmaceutical industry is highly preferred.

SKILLS:

2-3 years’ experience in plant mechanical and/or electrical area preferred.

Knowledge and understanding of industrial plant operations preferred.

Excellent interpersonal/communications skills, both verbally and in writing.

Must demonstrate superior organizational skills.

Must demonstrate problem-solving and data analysis/synthesis skills.

Ability to lead team initiatives and work in a team environment.

Self-starter.

Must demonstrate continuous learning and improving in job skills.

Intermediate computer skills with knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, or other comparable software.

Experience with SAP or CMMS system is preferred.
