Meta Controls Engineer in Fremont, California

Summary:

Meta is seeking a Controls Engineer experienced in the design and construction of Critical Facilities to become part of our data center engineering team. The successful candidate will deliver Critical Facilities, across Greenfields, Retrofits and Leased facilities, to support the needs of the company’s expansion plans. Our data centers are the foundation upon which our software operates. Building and operating reliable and efficient data centers is essential to support the growth of Meta. The data center engineering team collaborates with all key stakeholders to ensure engineering and design of our data centers incorporate considerations from micro-levels (servers and IT equipment design requirements) to macro-levels (mechanical cooling and power distribution options) to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability of our compute infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a proven track record in team management and a strong background in all aspects of Controls Engineering. A thorough understanding of mechanical systems, electrical systems and IP networking is strongly desired. This person shall be detail-oriented, possess strong organizational skills, and be a self-starter that can excel with little direction.

Required Skills:

Controls Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Lead new project control engineering design, quality approval, process control, product evaluation, vendor proposals, evaluate product reliability, automated testing, software, research and development.

  2. Responsible for controls systems strategies, design, specifications, programming, simulation, testing as well as vendor and commissioning oversight.

  3. Lead development and initiate standards and methods for processes, control logic and sequences, testing, evaluation, and integration.

  4. Review BMS change management and provide feedback.

  5. Collaborate with multiple teams across different disciplines.

  6. Drive project schedules while working closely with design and construction to ensure milestones and completion dates are on track.

  7. Develop facility and vendor commissioning tests and standards for BAS project training close out efforts.

  8. Travel to datacenter sites for engineering studies, mechanical systems audits, startup testing, and full commissioning, as required.

  9. Travel to various equipment and bench testing as well as remotely located design working sessions.

  10. Respond on an as-needed basis to emergencies.

  11. Owner Representative responsible for establishing requirements & design direction

  12. drives alignment with business requirements and priorities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 8+ years of experience with control system design, development and management.

  2. Understanding of Modbus protocol to include TCP, and RTU.

  3. Experience managing projects and project teams.

  4. AutoCAD and VISIO experience.

  5. Certifications in various control systems.

  6. Experience to establish working relationships and resolve interpersonal conflicts.

  7. Experience working simultaneously on multiple projects, in a team or independently.

  8. Knowledge of Networking Server/Client Workstations.

  9. Organizational and communication skills.

  10. Knowledge of thermodynamics and psychometrics.

  11. Understanding of BACnet protocol to include IP, ETH and MS/TP.

  12. Understanding of electrical systems and schematics, low voltage and high voltage.

  13. Datacenter/critical facilities experience.

  1. DCIM understanding and working knowledge.

  2. IT and server hardware background.

  3. N+ certification.

  4. Knowledge of BAS DDC and PLC programming language.

  5. Schneider Electric PLC/Unity Pro experience.

  6. Citect/AVEVA SCADA understanding and working knowledge.

  7. OPC UA understanding and working knowledge.

  8. Central Chiller Plant commissioning experience

  9. Experience developing SoO, process controls and commissioning plans.

Public Compensation:

$113,000/year to $159,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
