As a Mechanical Reliability Engineer, you will support the Freeport Crude Acrylic Acid Plants by utilizing their experience and knowledge of reliability techniques and systems to drive long-term, cost minimizing and sustainable solutions for reliability operation of the plant assets. Previous experience directly supporting operating plants with a focus on safety, equipment condition evaluation and “right sized” preventative and predictive maintenance strategy will be key to success in this role. Experience with classes of equipment such as pumps, compressors, process chillers, other rotating equipment required, fixed equipment and piping required. Experience with instrumentation, control valves and controls equipment a plus. A safety driven, continuous improvement, strategic, collaborative, data-driven and cost-conscious mindset is critical for this role.
This role will work hand in hand with the operations, maintenance and asset management teams to increase reliability of the plant operation. Through assessment of plant performance and maintenance data, they will develop and update preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to improve asset availability and minimize maintenance cost. Tools such as root cause failure analysis (RCFA), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), “Bad Actor” evaluations, risk-based inspection (RBI), reliability centered maintenance (RCM), lifespan/ probability of failure tools (i.e.,MTBF/MTTF, Weibull, Crow-AMSAA), predictive modeling tools and asset availability data will be used to provide data driven support for your long-term reliability plan. This role also works in conjunction with the site pressure vessels engineering team, metallurgy, rotating equipment engineering, IEC Engineers, acrylics technology and operations teams to develop long term improvements to enhance operational ability and reduce maintenance costs.
As a Mechanical Reliability Engineer (Freeport, TX), you create chemistry by...
Actively reviewing predictive and preventative maintenance data and making recommendations regarding equipment inspection plans, frequency, corrective maintenance or capital improvements.
Leading monthly reliability review meetings with the operations, maintenance and asset management teams and supporting the asset management team in proper selection and storage of spare parts for critical equipment.
Leading reliability-based root cause analysis investigations for the area and maintaining the unit’s Reliability Incident and Project Tracker and action item database.
Working with the pressure vessels team and Maintenance Engineer to review and revise Risk Based Inspection assessments, and making recommendations on inspection scope, intervals, repairs or capital investment as needed.
Revising the “Bad Actor” assessment annually in conjunction with the asset engineer, considering production loss, maintenance costs and related production/process cost in the assessment, and prioritizing and leading the most impactful Bad Actor reliably improvement projects.
Routinely reviewing lubrication route and vibration route results with the Central Inspection Team, making recommendations for testing parameters and frequency changes, as well as for corrective action based on results as needed.
Leading and driving Preventative Maintenance Plan Optimization efforts within the assigned unit and driving improvements to equipment preventative and predictive maintenance plans by utilizing PM effectiveness data.
Leading and/or participating in FMEAs for critical equipment as necessary and applying changes to equipment strategy documentation as a result of FMEA reviews as needed.
Participating in capital project scope development and designing reviews related to reliability, modifications or improvements as necessary, advising project managers on appropriate changes on preventative maintenance and sparing strategies as needed and acting as a project manufacturing representative as appropriate.
Supporting scope development and execution of turnaround work as needed.
Communicating with the unit asset engineer to make updates to the long-term capital and major maintenance strategies and associated cost plans as needed.
Supporting the maintenance teams in scope development for reliability related equipment modifications and issue management of change form for approval when necessary.
If you...
Hold a degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred). Masters in Reliability Engineering a plus. CMRP, CRE and/or six sigma certifications preferred but not required.
Demonstrate 5-10 years’ experience in direct plant field operations and/or field maintenance experience.
