We are looking for an Advance Process Control Engineer to join our Global Engineering team in Geismar, LA.

We are seeking a professional like you to be part of the Automation, Controls and Electrical team within the Technical Expertise department. We expect a highly qualified individual who will identify, champion, implement and maintain Process Automation Systems, specializing in the Advanced Process Control Technology area. This position is part of the global E&M Strategy to establish and build up knowledge in the area of Advanced Process Control in the North American region. You will provide a key contribution to the North American manufacturing sites on their Journey to Operational Excellence.

As a Advanced Process Control Engineer, you create chemistry by...

  • Providing support in the functional design and implementation of process automation, such as process control strategies, modeling predictive control applications and real-time optimization, cost development/benefit analyses for potential new projects.

  • Collaborating with BASF Regional Technical Expertise Community (RTEC) for Automation and Process Control and Optimization topics.

  • Sustaining existing Advanced Process Control applications, analyzing and tracking performance and implementing corrective actions.

  • Troubleshooting process control problems. Identifying causes, making recommendations for and implementing improvements.

  • Participating in evaluation and implementation of new developments in advanced process control technology.

  • Maintaining overview of APC activities and developments in the North American region.

If you...

  • Have a Bachelor's degree Chemical or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years' of related experience or a MS/PhD in in related field.

  • Possess technical knowledge in control concepts including Control Theory, Basic Control, Advanced Regulatory Control, and Advanced Process Control.

  • Understand the fundamentals of controls systems, and count with basic understanding of the various types of pressure, level, temperature, and flow instrumentation.

  • Are knowledgeable of common process industry unit operations such as reactors, distillation towers, heat exchangers.

  • Are willing to travel 30% to 50% of the time.
