Position Summary:

The IT Security Analyst plays a pivotal role in ensuring customers have accurate information before and after the sale. This role is responsible for working with LSG (Life Sciences Group) product management, service & support colleagues, and commercial teams to address customer IT security concerns when purchasing Thermo Fisher analytical instrumentation. This role combines customer-facing interactions with standard business analysis duties, focusing on quality, information security, and compliance in a regulated environment. The ideal candidate will have outstanding research, writing, and presentation skills, a desire to tackle complex problems and strive to complete assignments timely with minimal oversight.

What Will You Do?

Key Position Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for customer security questionnaires working with data privacy, legal, product management, quality, sales, and corporate information security teams.

  • Conduct thorough research using various repositories to ensure the accuracy and completeness of data concerning the security and functionality of our instruments and software.

  • Manage communications with customers, explaining questionnaire findings clearly and providing necessary follow-ups.

  • Escalate issues to appropriate teams to ensure prompt response to customers’ questionnaires.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for audits, customer inquiries, and regulatory compliance.

  • Apply a consultative approach with customers to understand their strategy and develop solutions to address their issues.

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by meeting customer needs promptly and effectively

  • Monitor and adhere to departmental KPIs to ensure performance targets are met and aligned with the strategic objectives.

  • Keep abreast of the latest security threats and trends affecting the industry to ensure our defenses are always one step ahead.

  • Contribute ideas for new security processes or innovative solutions that improve efficiency and effectiveness.

How You Will Get Here

Minimum Education, Experience

  • A bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Business Management, Information Security, or a related field is required. Equivalent work experience is accepted.

  • At least 6years experience in IT roles with a background in IT network protocols and cybersecurity regulations, preferably in a medium to large company environment.

  • Experience working in highly regulated environments; knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP or GxP) and Computer Systems Validation (CSV) is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong proficiency in security layers and standards, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, data encryption, and other industry-standard techniques and practices preferred.

  • Demonstrated customer service mentality and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with IT and non-IT personnel to explain complex security measures, legal, technical and compliance topics in an understandable manner and to drive cross-functional projects to successful outcomes.

  • General understanding of cybersecurity technologies and controls with the ability to bridge the gap between regulatory and technical concepts    

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage projects from inception to completion.

  • Superior written and verbal communication, along with strong team-building capabilities.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and the corresponding capacity to make decisions or recommendations based on potentially incomplete information.

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization and drive resolution of issues by bringing teams together – both internally and externally.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $103,100.00–$171,900.00.
