UL, LLC Software Engineer - VB and .NET in Franklin, Tennessee

This role is REMOTE anywhere in the United States.

UL is seeking a Software Developer to join an experienced Scrum Team consisting of a Product Owner, Scrum Master, Quality Assurance Analysts, Software Engineers, Front-end Developers, and Architects. The candidate will be responsible for hands on development across multiple technology stacks, frameworks, and tools (Visual basic 6, C#, .Net multiple versions, .Net Core, HTML, CSS, ASP.Net Web API, Microsoft Sql Server).

The Software Developer will be working on desktop applications, windows services, and web-based development initiatives, ensuring software development life cycle activities are consistent with the direction set by the Architects or Development Team Lead and/or generally accepted best practices. As part of a Scrum Team, you will be responsible for participating in all team ceremonies and committing to a team-first attitude. You will be part of a team of peers working on highly technical, enterprise initiatives initiated by Product Owners via a prioritized portfolio of features.

Job duties include code development, code testing, research, tool evaluation, documenting patterns and standards, technology evaluation and recommendation. Software Developers must be able to take high-level direction, work with senior engineers to formulate a plan to achieve goals and execute against Stories and Tasks.

  • As part of a Scrum Team, deliver high quality, “done” work, which is Production ready at the end of each Sprint

  • Be willing to work on whatever the Scrum Team decides is important

  • Work with the Development Team Lead on technical, enterprise initiatives and deliver clear, documented, and well-formed opinions, research, and solutions

  • University degree in Computer Science or related discipline.

  • Experience with .Net \ .Net Core, C# and the Microsoft stack of technologies.

  • Experience with Visual Basic 6.

  • Experience with RESTful web services a plus.

  • Demonstrated logical and technical problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to learn and quickly comprehend new concepts.

  • Demonstrated strong judgment and decision-making ability.

  • Experience in web standards such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as well as browser capabilities.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of unit testing back end business logic.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Working experience with databases, Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Total Rewards: The salary range for this position is $100,000-$120,000 of the salary range and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position.

All employees at UL Solutions are eligible for annual bonus compensation.  The target for this position is 10% of the base salary offered. Employees are eligible for health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental & financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country, for the relevant position level.  

We also provide employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
