The Cigna Group Business Analytics Director (Value based Care Analytics & Reporting) - Hybrid in Franklin, Tennessee

Summary

The Business Analytics Director will be responsible for strategizing and leading operational analytics, reporting and program implementation initiatives supporting Cigna Health plan affordability programs around value-based care, population health, specialty value-based care solutions and reimbursement innovation. This individual will work collaboratively with key technical and non-technical matrix partners, Affordability Managing Directors and Senior Vice President, IT partners within the organization to provide strategic thought partnership in analytics, actionable report creations, downstream automation, market support analytics and financial reporting on both mature and new strategic concepts, value-based program innovation, leveraging appropriate analytics from cross-functional team of data science, business analytics and technologic capabilities. This role with play critical part to enable Cigna's/Evernorth’s growth and revenue strategy with supercharging value-based care service offerings on both fronts.

This position requires healthcare and insurance content knowledge, analytics expertise and leadership skills related to leading multiple teams. Such teams will drive market value by participation in a matrix of business stakeholders and Agile model that enables and evolves new concepts and ideas to supercharge Health Plan's Affordability and value-based care position.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operational analytics, reporting implementation & innovation, market support analytics and financial management reporting etc.

  • Interact daily with the Affordability, Product, Strategy, Contracting and Clinical business leads of provider value stream to understand their strategy in order to best deploy analytics and actionable reporting that help them achieve their business goals

  • Responsible for driving and executing the program specifications from reporting standpoint by partnering closely with IT partners

  • Responsible for creating, managing and deploying the financial management reporting to drive visibility on program financials success, opportunities and efficiencies

  • Partner closely with local market contractors and clinicians to provide actionable improvement opportunities through ongoing opportunity analytics and help drive the actions from the providers to improve performance

  • Execute on automation of non-standard processes

  • Institute standardization and quality assurance across all aspects of delivery, including financial modeling, evaluations, opportunity analysis and hypothesis building

  • Identify and execute near-term initiatives to embed appropriate analytics within business processes to challenge the status quo and drive an insight driven culture

  • Offer authoritative position on strategic contract/product/solution offerings and consistent messaging of our strategies across the organization

  • Prioritize work across multiple project types, all for purposes of decision making and execution based on data, facts and analytical findings across different part of the organization

  • Work closely with other delivery functions such as Center of Excellence in Data Science, Center of Excellence in Evaluation and Reporting and various Information Technology COE partners

  • Lead a business analytics cross-functional teams to develop/propose innovative solutions through internal development and external partnerships

  • Execute the talent strategy required to achieve business needs and organizational goals

  • Execute the critical functions to enable Cigna's/Evernorth’s growth strategy across value-based care service offerings

Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ of healthcare industry experience solving business problems through the application of descriptive, diagnostic and prescriptive analytics approaches

  • 5+ years’ of experience of working in Agile structure to drive reporting implementation and automations in partnership with IT

  • Healthcare Analytics expertise – Hands on experience with healthcare data (e.g., claims, eligibility, profiling, EMR), statistical and observational studies, 10 years of experience and training with advanced analytics techniques and actionable provider facing report building, ability to quick size new concepts and programs using appropriate analytics and financial rigor to identify and prioritize high value work

  • Value-based care subject matter expertise - Direct experience in primary care and specialty Value Based Programs supporting program designs (ACO, bundles, episodes, etc.), value drivers, program evaluations, data mining, and steerage solutions.

  • Healthcare subject matter expertise – Direct industry experience through conferences and relationship management, strong healthcare and / or health plan business acumen for developing actionable guidance using key metrics communicated in an easy-to-understand manner, demonstrated understanding of health care and delivery system processes, strong clinical knowledge and applications into relevant analytics

  • Customer Focus - Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of clients; gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services; acts with customers in mind. Ability to successfully navigate and contribute in a highly matrixed business stakeholders including but not limited to product, clinical, contracting, IT/IM and Agile teams

  • Strategic Vision and Agility - Ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into strategic roadmap and delivery; fast paced translation of business needs into practical applications and solutions; nimble with leveraging existing enterprise solutions and data/insights assets to make informed decisions

  • Leadership and Organization – Experience in managing 10+ team of advanced degree equivalent analytic resources. Exceptional capacity for managing and leading people and cross-functional data science and business analytics teams; capacity to enforce accountability, develop and empower top-notch analytics staff from the bottom up, lead from the top down, cultivate entrepreneurship, and learn the strengths and weaknesses of the team so as to put people in a position to succeed

  • Communication - Strong persuasion skills and effective communicator; ability to create and communicate a compelling vision internally and externally

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Biostatistics, Economics, Pharmacy Administration, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Epidemiology highly desired

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 150,500 - 250,900 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
