Position Summary:
The Maintenance Manager plays a pivotal role in establishing and upholding a world-class Maintenance Program. As a member of the site leadership team, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring that the team receives training in maintenance activities and fostering a strong safety culture within the Maintenance Department.
As the leader of a team consisting of 18 members, you will have the opportunity to guide, coach, develop, and inspire them. You will spearhead efforts to drive operational efficiencies, enhance training programs, develop competencies, and minimize downtime. Building robust relationships with vendors, particularly in the areas of HVAC and heavy mechanical equipment, will be a crucial aspect of this role.
Furthermore, as a valued member of the leadership team, the Maintenance Manager will actively contribute to site-wide initiatives, including the strategic rollout of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance). Leveraging the power of SAP, the Maintenance Manager will play an integral part in creating and implementing preventive maintenance plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop a world-class Maintenance Program that encompasses various aspects such as predictive, preventative, and reactive maintenance, planned and unplanned maintenance, replacement part optimization, training and development, equipment history, and cost minimization while enhancing overall plant performance.
Ensure that the program meets all organizational needs and complies with Nestle Standards.
Take responsibility for the Factory Pressure Vessel Program and Boiler Management Program, ensuring that all legal requirements are met.
Measure success in this role through key performance indicators, including work order completion, backlog, breakdown analysis, maintenance budget (parts and labor), line performance, and percentage of breakdowns.
Manage Technical Stores to ensure efficient inventory management.
Recruit and develop maintenance technicians to meet the company's requirements.
Adhere to all Food Safety, Quality, and Audit requirements as per NSF and SQF standards.
Participate in the development of capital projects and equipment purchases.
Design and implement small projects as necessary to support the company's operations.
Manage relationships with third-party maintenance and equipment vendors.
Lead and participate in continuous improvement activities, such as Kaizen events, BDA, 5S and Go See Think Do (GSTD)
Monitor expenses and maintain control over the budget for the Maintenance Department.
Possess proficiency in the Maintenance Software system, specifically SAP.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
Experience & Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (preferred), Preferably in a relevant engineering field of study
Proven leadership experience managing a medium size team
A minimum of 2 years of related experience in a CPG and/or food manufacturing facility is strongly preferred, along with recent GMP experience.
Mechanical and electrical knowledge for troubleshooting is essential, particularly in general packaging processes such as fill and pack - dry powder, capers fillers, labeling, and palletizers.
Knowledge of medium and low voltage motors and controls, general understanding of PLCs, control system functions, sensors, and valves.
TPM experience is a plus, as well as proficiency in root cause analysis tools
Proven ability to build and develop teams with effective coaching and inspirational leadership.
Basic computer skills, including MS Office Suites
Working knowledge of SAP and CMMS systems
Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills is a plus
On-call responsibility will be required.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment and possess the ability to embrace and drive change.
Effective collaboration across teams, building and maintaining credibility, and influencing others are important skills for this role.
Ability to create reports and procedure manuals is essential.
Strong attention to detail, excellent time management, verbal and written communication skills, and organizational skills are highly valued.
