The Principal Enterprise Architect is responsible for translating business needs into technical strategies, system solutions, and architectural roadmaps. This role provides strategic advice and guidance to functional teams. The ideal candidate possesses extensive technical expertise, particularly in utilizing an Enterprise Architecture Management System to identify opportunities for optimizing the technology landscape.

The Principal Enterprise Architect will play a pivotal role in shaping Humana's Technology Strategy and providing tactical architectural direction to ensure the enterprise achieves its strategic goals. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders and industry experts to align on various architectural technology standards. As a thought leader, the Principal Enterprise Architect will challenge and influence all levels of the organization to rethink routines, embrace new best practices, and drive the adoption of technology standards. Additionally, this role will identify valuable opportunities that our new Enterprise Architecture Management System can enable across the enterprise.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and utilize the Enterprise Architecture Management System to identify areas for improvement within the enterprise architecture.

  • Formulate and implement strategies to address identified opportunities and drive positive change.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of architectural solutions.

  • Provide expert guidance and support on enterprise architecture best practices.

  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of implemented changes.

  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in enterprise architecture.

Required Qualifications

  • Strategic thinking abilities and an enterprise-wide perspective

  • Experience providing guidance and defining strategy for how companies should deal with technology

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related relevant experience

  • 5+ years of experience architecting enterprise technology solutions

  • Ability to partner within and across teams to gain consensus and enable change

  • Ability to influence stakeholders

  • Ability to drive tasks to completion

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication skills for creating and sharing presentations to multiple levels of audiences of stakeholders - i.e. senior executives in business and IT, architects, developers, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Negotiation and mediation skills

  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture Management Systems, specifically LeanIX

  • Certification in enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman)

  • Healthcare experience

  • Master's degree

Work-At-Home Requirements

  • WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.$153,500 - $211,300 per yearThis job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
