Ford Motor Company Director, Data Privacy - Ford Integrated Services in Frankfort, Kentucky

Director, Ford Integrated Service Data Privacy

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?

In this position...

Ford Motor Company is committed to protecting our customers’ privacy. As we enter the future of mobility through connected vehicles, software, and services, we intend to remain a privacy leader. The Director, FIS Data Privacy will lead Ford’s Integrated Services Data Privacy team on behalf of our businesses, both Retail and Pro. In so doing, this individual will be an integral part of our community of leaders helping us to deliver innovation at speed while also raising the bar on customer privacy.

The FIS Data Privacy group is new at Ford. It is modeled after a shared functional and subject-matter expertise approach, such as that provided by our Finance and HR teams, but focused on the topic of Privacy. This group will serve as a critical central junction point bridging Legal, Business, Product, and Engineering, bringing these groups together to ideate, define, and project manage solutions that meet business needs, are technically feasible, can be contained on current roadmaps, and ensure compliance with the required Privacy standards.

This role leads the lean team of Data Privacy Managers assigned to specific businesses within FIS and in addition to that, will hold primary liaison responsibilities for FIS with all key Privacy stakeholders, including Office of General Counsel, Privacy; Privacy Product leadership; Enterprise Risk Management, and the Technical Privacy teams including the Privacy Software Engineering team inclusive of the necessary ongoing governance required to drive faster, more successful execution of desired business outcomes .

This is a first-at-Ford role which will necessitate a great degree of entrepreneurialism and relationship building.

What you'll do...

We are seeking a trusted leader who can inspire loyalty in others through head and heart, capable of motivating employees at all levels of the ladder and creating a culture of equitable, flat teams even within a hierarchical corporate structure.

  • Lead a team that can sit with our Legal, Business, Product, and Engineering partners as intellectual leaders and trusted thought partners to enable the collaborative design of robust end-to-end privacy solutions for FIS products, including consent journeys and privacy mechanisms that maximize transparency and customer privacy, while still delivering the results needed by the business.

  • Create a privacy-by-design culture whereby privacy is part of ongoing business-as-usual design and consideration rather than handled as a one-off compliance matter

  • Collaborate with Business teams to anticipate their privacy needs and get ahead of them on the workplan.

  • Own the strategy, its implementation, and, working in conjunction with the Office of General Counsel Privacy Office, ensure ongoing compliance with all privacy requirements globally inside FIS businesses including as key point for completing annual Privacy Reviews, as well as with Ford’s specific privacy commitments beyond those required by law.

  • Step into rooms as the voice of Data Privacy for Integrated Services, providing expertise and consultation on all major privacy-related initiatives directly or through the team.

You are a…

  • Creative thinker who looks around corners and is unafraid to go after the white space of new ideas as a means of leading teams to embrace disruption and adopt new solutions to existing problems as well as emerging opportunities.

  • Linear communicator capable of developing and delivering multi-mode communications which convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.

  • Results-oriented doer with a sense of urgency.

  • Leader who models accountability by holding self and other accountable to meet commitments.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience with demonstrated increase in work complexity over time and greater impact across areas

  • Prior experience managing a team of direct reports

  • Prior experience in a large, matrixed organization

  • Proven hands-on experience in the Data Privacy field with demonstrated knowledge of privacy requirements in major jurisdictions such as GDPR, CCPA, the EU Data Act as well as experience specifically in Connected Vehicle and/or Internet-of-Things (IoT) regulations

Even better, you may have...

  • Business acumen which is technically grounded – not necessarily an engineer but can understand, interact with, and parse the impact of engineering choices on solutions being devised

  • Ability to explain complex topics in such a way that the target audience can understand, retain, and use the information.

  • Experience gained from working on complex data-related projects with an understanding of data architecture, data flows, and cloud services

  • Understanding of consent strategies and their implementations with experience specific to automotive and connected Internet-of-Things (IoT) industries a plus

  • Understanding of and demonstrated ability to implement privacy enhancing technologies in balance with and in service of business goals

  • Ability to manage multiple complex cross-functional projects crossing Business, Product, Engineering, Legal, and Internal Control teams simultaneously, each with critical deliverables and deadlines with a focus on delivering results

  • Ability to function and operate across highly skilled technical and business teams and develop solutions through collaboration

  • Strong leadership qualities and interpersonal skills to effectively manage and be a member of multiple teams which will be cross-functional, multi-department, and with many perspectives to engage, influence and gain buy-in

  • Ability to build and manage a high-performing team with deft orchestration of HR, Recruiting, and Finance to ensure quality and fit are realized

  • Ability to learn and integrate quickly knowledge of additional, as-needed Global regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to the various Integrated Services businesses as they arise

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder…or all of the above?

No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including:

  • Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage

  • Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more

  • Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more

  • Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases

  • Tuition assistance

  • Established and active employee resource groups

  • Paid time off for individual and team community service

  • A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day

  • Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time.
