TransloadX Railroad Car Unloading Laborer in Framingham, Massachusetts

Job Title: Railroad Car Unloading Laborer/General Laborer Location: Framingham, MA Job Type: Full Time Reports To: Site Supervisor Job Overview: TransloadX is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Laborer to join our growing team to assist with unloading railroad cars. The ideal candidate will have strong physical endurance, a commitment to safety, the ability to work outside and the ability to work efficiently in a team environment. Key Responsibilities: * Follow Safety Protocols: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment. Wear always required personal protective equipment (PPE). * Unload Cargo: Efficiently and safely unload cargo from railroad cars using hand tools, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment as required. These tasks may include climbing to heights over 6 feet. * Inspect Goods: Check cargo for damage and ensure that it matches shipping documents. Report any discrepancies or damages to the supervisor. Fix or repair damage as required by customers. * Sort and Organize: Sort and organize unloaded goods in designated areas according to company procedures and safety guidelines. * Maintain Equipment: Perform basic maintenance and checks on unloading equipment and tools. Report any malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor. * Coordinate with Team: Work closely with other team members and supervisors to ensure efficient unloading and organization of goods. * Documentation: Assist in documenting the quantity and condition of goods unloaded as required for inventory and shipping records. * Cleanup/General Labor: Maintain a clean and organized work area and job site. Dispose of any waste materials in accordance with company policies. Perform other tasks that may or may not be related to unloading railcars such as shoveling, sweeping, stacking, sorting, banding, tarping, load securement, minor repairs and maintenance of facility, replacing/renewing broken or worn railroad infrastructure, and other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety procedures and practices. Prior training or certification in safety practices is a plus. * Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks in outdoor environments. * Experience: Previous experience in a labor-intensive role or similar environment is preferred but not required. * Equipment Operation: Basic knowledge of operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other unloading equipment is advantageous. * Communication Skills: Good communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors. * Attention to Detail: Ability to pay close attention to detail, particularly in inspecting and documenting cargo. Working Conditions: * Environment: Work will be performed in an outdoor or warehouse environment, which may include exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures. * Hours: May require working in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed. * Physical Demands: The role involves lifting, bending, and moving heavy items regularly.
