Company: Asahi Kasei Plastics North America, Inc. Job Description: We are seeking a Quality Engineer to promote the quality culture throughout the organization. You will be responsible for leading and driving projects to completion within the quality department. Reporting to the Quality Manager/Director, you will be responsible for improving product quality, increasing process efficiency, and reducing operating costs by reducing variation in the inputs to manufacturing and other business operations. You will ensure customer satisfaction by improving products and processes through failure mode effects analysis, as well as correction of product failures which occur in the field and process failures which occur in-house. Job Tasks * Responsible for driving and participating in APQP activities to ensure customer needs are met * Assist in the preparation of PPAP, IMDS, automotive approvals, and UL/NSF submissions * Lead and execute cross-functional continuous improvement projects that affect product quality * Improve process control scheme at the plant by updating process control plans, PFMEA's, and process work instructions, developing content with cross functional teams * Assist in deploying QMS training for all employees * Assist/lead internal audits, external audits, and customer audits * Ensure that all activities are completed in compliance with lean, ethical, and regulatory requirements including ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 / ISO 17025 * Ability to work with current and future customers corrective actions and inquiries * Perform statistical analysis on raw material and finished goods capabilities to reduce variability in the process Qualifications (Education, Experience, Licensures, and Certifications) * Bachelor's Degree in Quality, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related degree and 1-5 years of experience in manufacturing, preferred in plastics * Certification through the American Society of Quality (ASQ) in one of the following areas preferred: ASQ/CQE, ASQ/CSSBB, ASQ/CSSGB, ASQ/CQA * Qualified as an internal auditor for IATF16949 or ISO 9001 preferred Required Skills * MS Office - excel, word, PowerPoint * Strong problem solving, communication and collaborative skills * Able to work independently under limited supervision, and provide direction/leadership to others * Strengths in organization, excellent communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills Preferred Skills * Experience implementing, administrating, and auditing IATF:16949/ISO9001 * Experience working in automotive industry as a quality engineer or supplier quality engineer; 1-5 years * Experience practicing and applying AIAG core tools in a production environment (APQP/PPAP/PFMEA/SPC/MSA) * Experience with SPC software such as Minitab or related statistical software * Bilingual English and Spanish a plus Work Environment / Physical Demands / Travel * Sits, walks, climbs stairs, stands sometimes, lifts occasionally * Some travel to customers, vendors or service providers (< 10%) * Regularly travels on foot about the manufacturing plant to carry out Quality duties #LI-MG1 As an equal opportunity employer, Asahi Kasei believes a diverse workforce will provide us with the ab
