Indian Health Service Cook in Fort Yates, North Dakota
Summary This position is located in the Dietary Services Department at the Ft. Yates Indian Health Service Hospital in Ft. Yates, ND. The position is responsible for performing cook duties working alone or with a higher graded cook. Responsibilities Prepares foods according to diet orders, menus and standardized recipes for inpatients, residential Drug Dependency Unit clients, hospital personnel and quest meals. Monitors the preparation and evaluates the condition of the food being prepared at frequent intervals to ensure optimum flavor, quality, and appearance. Prepares food for cooking such as washing, peeling, chopping, and grinding for cooking. Roasts bakes, fries, boils, and stews meats, fish, and poultry. Observes high personal hygiene standards and all required safe food handling practices. Performs assigned cleaning duties as scheduled. Maintains food storages areas for cleanliness and proper storage and food labeling. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.
