Caterpillar, Inc. Senior Engineer in Fort Worth, Texas
Job Duties include but are not limited to:
Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods
Determines feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors
Prepares product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
Compiles and analyzes operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment or product.
May coordinate preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages
Assists in decisions regarding product safety
Assists Sales Department in making technical presentations to customers
Provides reports on the status of project milestones and adjusts schedules accordingly
Controls expenditures within limitations or project budget
Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems
Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications and drawing releases
Prepares interim and completion project reports
Interfaces with customers to provide project status reports and ensure customer needs are met
Provides status and progress reports to customer, project team, and management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to work effectively with vendors and employees of all levels of the organization.

The position is a professional position representing a major corporation and the individual will be expected to maintain life habits that enhance their worth to themselves, the company and the industry the company serves. The individual will be expected to work toward holding a PE license if not already held. The individual will be expected to be committed to continual improvement of their technical and management skills related to the company’s business through attending seminars and or classroom education. The individual will be expected to maintain a familiarity of related API and ASME specifications. The individual is expected to be available for overtime as required to meet project scheduling objectives. The individual will be expected to not engage in other part-time employment that could reduce their ability to be available to perform their duties in a professional and responsible manner. The individual will be expected to maintain confidentiality of company Intellectual Property and Trade Secrets. The individual will be expected to work courteously and respectfully with all employees, customers and suppliers.
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university and 5+ years’ industry experience in Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical field
Demonstrated experience developing and delivering product enhancements
Familiarity with stress and metallurgical analysis beneficial
Design engineering experience required
Top Candidate Will Also Have:
Black Belt experience
Failure analysis experience
