Overview:

The NBCU Local Technology & Operations organization (TechOps) provides Technology Solutions, Technical Support, Media Operations, Production, Studios and Facilities services to the business of NBCU Local.

We are looking for a Director of Technology to lead the Engineering and Technical Support team in Dallas – Ft. Worth, supporting television stations KXAS, KXTX, and our national graphics hub, Arthouse. As Director of Technology, you will be responsible for technical support operations, implementing and maintaining technology solutions, facilitating team success and development, overseeing complex technical projects, and ensuring compliance with standards and processes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of local engineering and technical support team; Coaching, leadership and development of expertise across the team.

  • Manage planning, implementation support and operational handoff of technical solutions across SDI, NDI and ST-2110 video infrastructures, physical / virtualized / cloud compute & storage, networking, encode / decode platforms, live production systems, news gathering tools, newsroom, NLE, media asset management, distribution, and transmission systems.

  • Accountability to technical standards, controls and processes that ensure a high degree of availability and reliability across all technical systems and operations.

  • Manage day to day technical support operations, including prioritization, SLAs and client satisfaction.

  • Incident response management, including customer impact communication and escalation.

  • Work with Operations teams to define requirements and deliver solutions that creatively solve business challenges or implement new processes across News, Production, Creative Services and other departments as needed.

  • Test new technology through participation in POC initiatives and make recommendations for inclusion in strategic plan including needed resources, feasibility, budget and timing requirements.

  • Develop and manage capital and department operating budgets

  • Ensure compliance with NBCUniversal EHS overall programs, goals and objectives.

  • Other duties as deemed necessary 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have minimum of 5 years of technical leadership experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, project management, or equivalent experience with 8+ years’ industry experience preferred.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Experience supporting a mission critical technology facility.

  • Experience supporting major market news or large-scale live production operations.

  • Experience managing IT, broadcast infrastructure and production systems, including ST-2110 for live production environments.

  • Experience in business analysis / requirements definition and risk management

  • Experience executing large complex initiatives in a large matrixed environment with the ability to establish trust with stakeholders.

  • Strong communication skills with ability to visualize and communicate both high level concepts and ideas, as well as tactical details for executives, business stakeholders and technology teams across all levels.

  • Understanding of current and emerging technologies across media and entertainment and how to apply to business specific needs.

  • Demonstrated customer focus with the ability to directly engage with stakeholders across all levels, set agendas, define goals and drive the conversation to achieve success.

  • Proven leadership with the ability to motivate employees, develop talent, tackle organizational challenges and maintain a culture of accountability and high performance.

  • Highly Organized with the ability to pivot from one initiative to the next, while managing multiple concurrent projects from very small to very large.
