Job Description

Olsson provides engineering services for data centers, large commercial developments, hospitals, laboratories, school/university buildings, and military facilities.  Our MEP design services can include HVAC design, plumbing design, power distribution, lighting, mechanical and electrical modeling.

Candidate must have demonstrated CFD modeling experience for the data center market or similar built environments. Candidate should have a strong desire to help build and expand Olsson’s CFD offering while potentially supporting other design related engineering functions. Experience should include exterior and interior modeling applications for data center applications. Must be willing to provide periodic support of other industries supported by Olsson.

Candidate will be responsible for model setup, troubleshooting, interpreting, and summarizing CFD model results in report and slide deck presentation formats with the support and guidance of senior engineering staff. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.  Candidate may participate with engineering team in presenting results to clients and engage in collaborative discussions with client team to identify and provide meaningful solutions.

Knowledge of typical equipment and systems deployed in the data center environment is preferred as well as working knowledge of typical system operation in both normal and emergency operations.

Must have demonstrated understanding of wind rose analysis and understanding of the impacts of ambient conditions and workings of psychometrics is desired.   

Flexibility and willingness to provide timely solutions are a must. You will also coordinate with other Olsson teams, professional staff, technical staff, and clients. You may travel to job sites for observation and attend client meetings.

*Olsson currently has an opportunity for a CFD Lead with our Dallas/Fort Worth, Omaha, North Kansas, Phoenix, Tulsa, Oklahoma City Data Center MEP team. We will consider candidates interested in being located near any office within the Olsson footprint. Candidates can live anywhere in the United States and work remotely.

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 2 or more years of related CFD experience

  • 3 or more years of experience supporting the design and engineering of facilities

  • Path to Professional Engineer designation is preferred

  • Prior Six Sigma experience is preferred
