  • Serve as a working supervisor to plan, coordinate, and oversee work of custodial staff and perform daily cleaning tasks for assigned area.
  • Make assignments to relief staff and oversee/assist with work orders, events set-ups and project work. Maintain attendance and other records.
  • May perform some duties of Building Services Manager as needed.
  • Establish daily work priorities by assisting/assigning work orders, special requests or project work.
  • Make assignments to utility workers to ensure all buildings are adequately staffed. Investigate and follow up on work orders, problems, and special cleaning projects; report completion of work and resolution of problems to manager.
  • Complete building inspections to ensure cleaning standards are met, cleaning supplies are available in all buildings and adequate inventory levels are maintained.
  • Communicate necessary information to lead custodians and attend and conduct meetings as required.
  • Serve as working supervisor to perform daily cleaning tasks for assigned area.
  • Answer calls and questions from custodial staff; inspect custodial closets and carts to ensure regulatory compliance; check equipment to ensure all items are in proper working order.
  • Make minor repairs and notify manager of needed repairs.
  • Interview and make recommendations regarding department transfers and promotions.
  • Maintain employee records including staff attendance; ensure time is reporting accurately and approve hours worked.
  • Schedule and approve time off including vacation requests.
  • Recommend products, service operations, and cleaning schedules.
  • Schedule training of new employees and recommend work progress to manager.
  • Communicate operational problems and disciplinary action.
  • Conduct performance evaluations.
  • Distribute cleaning supplies to all buildings.

High School diploma or GED.

At least 4-5 years experience in staff supervision and working with commercial cleaning techniques and floor care and related building service duties.
