Compass Maryland Direct Support Professional (DSP)/Behavior Support Specialist - Fort Washington in Fort Washington, Maryland

$750 Sign-on Bonus*

Compass, Inc.  a progressive, non-profit agency supporting individuals with disabilities is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic persons for to work with and support individuals with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors in Fort Washington, MD (PG County.)  Duties include assisting with activities of daily living and community integration, providing support for managing behavioral challenges, and supporting people to live a good life and follow their dreams.   

This is a perfect position for someone in school for psychology, social work or other areas of human services. The ideal staff would be someone who is experienced with managing challenging behaviors.   Mandt certification and RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) certification preferred.

Shifts available:

M-F 7a-3p

M-F 3p-11p

Weekend shifts also needed:  Sa Su 7a-3p and Sa Su 3p-11p or double shift of 7a-11p also available.  If electing double shift it could be every weekend or every other weekend.

Pay rate: $23-$25/hour depending on qualifications/certifications.  

Benefits:  401K retirement plan with generous employer match, time and half on holidays, paid time off, free meals while on shift, mileage reimbursement.  Depending on number of hours a week, benefits may also include health, dental, and vision insurance.  

Paid Training: CMT, Mandt, RBT, DSP II Certification and DDA core training as needed.

  • Ability to exercise a lot of patience

  • Basic computer skills for documenting daily reports

    Requirements:   Medication Technician (CMT), RBT and Mandt certification or willingness and ability to become certified within 60 days of employment. Training will be provided.  Must be CPR FA certified and have DDA core training prior to starting, DDA training provided.  Prior experience supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who exhibit behavioral challenges strongly preferred. Must have own reliable vehicle, driver’s license with clean driving record.  Must be able to utilize computer technology to complete all documentation requirements.
