Summary About the Position: Serves as the US Army Alaska's (USARAK) Medical Planner within the Command Surgeon's Office. Provides guidance, direction and advice on operational elements on Health Service Support planning. Responsibilities Provides guidance, direction and advice on operational elements on Health Service Support planning. Develops deliberate and crisis action medical planning product requirements. Senior Medical Logistics Advisor to the commander, serving as the US Army Alaska medical logistician and technical expert for medical logistics plans requirements and operational capabilities during training and real world events. Provides medical expertise in the planning, design, development, and execution of USARAK exercises across the AOR. Serves as member of the USARAK Battle Staff and as a member of the deployable Tactical Operations Center (TOC) during major exercises and war-time operations. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing a structured approach to determine the requirements for medical support to military operations and complex humanitarian emergencies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and Management Information Management Planning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Temporary promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years and may be made permanent without further competition.
