SCOPE OF POSITION:

A senior process engineering role to standardize and improve the manufacturing processes and equipment procedures at the manufacturing facility. This role collaborates with all relevant team members and provides technical expertise to resolve problems, establish best practices and lead improvement activities for site manufacturing teams. This role ensures operational goals of the organization are met including safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction targets.

This role collaborates daily with the manufacturing teams to define and implement solutions to site priorities including but not limited to enhancing production efficiency, equipment optimization, scrap reduction, and improving overall product quality. Works on projects related to the review of existing, and design of new manufacturing equipment, processes, and work centers. May suggest or implement equipment purchases, modifications or measurement device calibration changes that could result in improved productivity or reduced costs related to production.

This role works independently within established procedures associated with the job function.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for process control to obtain site targets for safety, quality, productivity and cost

  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions for targets not being met

  • Establish and implement best practice consistent with industry standards

  • Conduct root cause analysis and ensure continuous improvement for areas of responsibility

  • Establishes priorities based on performance of the site and organizational goals

  • Coordinates projects and resources including Capital Expenditures

  • Assist in the training and development of the production staff

  • Ensure accurate reporting and documentation of metrics and improvements

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION: (Minimum Education and/or Experience required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (preferred)

  • 3-5 years of production manufacturing experience in a similar role

  • Experience collaborating with production teams in a manufacturing environment, particularly in plastic extrusion or similar processes

  • Strong problem-solving and leadership skills

  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and demonstrate tangible results

  • Providing technical support and collaborating with site and functional departments for process and resolution

COMPETENCIES:

  • Process Optimization: Identifying opportunities for improving efficiency and reducing waste (Lean, Six Sigma)

  • Technical Knowledge: Expertise in plastic extrusion processes and troubleshooting production issues preferred

  • Quality Assurance: Maintaining and improving product quality through effective control systems

  • Collaboration & Communication: Coordinating with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements.

  • Health & Safety: Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a safe work environment.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyzing production data to support improvements and track performance

  • Adaptability: Handling changing production demands and leading through transitions
