Position Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor, Maintenance Boilermakers, the Boilermaker will be accountable for contributing to the ongoing maintenance in the nickel, cobalt, leach, utilities and fertilizer plants within the Sherritt Metals refinery.
This position is based out of our Fort Saskatchewan plant site.
Accountabilities
Fabrication of structural steel
Heat exchanger work on a variety of different types of exchangers and vessels
Develop a layout and plan the sequence of work to be done in a shop or field environment
Layout, shape and cut metal and other materials using hot and cold methods
Fit and assemble components using fastening methods such as bolting and welding
Inspect, test and perform repairs on pressure and non-pressure systems
Assemble and utilize cranes and other hoisting equipment to move and place materials
Design, assemble and use winch and block systems, and execute complex hoisting operations such as large tandem lifts
Review and understand the scopes of work provided by the Crew Leader and/or Planner daily including routine maintenance and shutdown activities
Actively participate in safe work procedure reviews, development, and implementation
Prepare accurate and detailed service reports and update existing documentation as required
Adhere to all safety standards and policies and supporting documentation
Qualifications and Skills
Boilermaker Trade Certification is required
Minimum 5+ years of industrial experience
Flexible to work regular/periodic shift work is required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Strong technical abilities and mechanical aptitude
Excellent work ethic, attendance and proven positive work performance
