Summary About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 7th Signal Command, 106th Signal Brigade, Intelligence Section with a duty location at Fort Sam Houston, TX. Responsibilities Responsible for the development, implementation, execution, and management of a multi-discipline security program for the 106th Signal Brigade. Implements and conducts the personnel security program to include security training, inspection program, and position sensitivity classifications. Implements the DOD Information Security Program providing for the proper classification, declassification, and safeguarding of classified defense information and documents. Performs oversight and coordinates the implementation of physical security control, inspection program, and storage measures for the protection of classified material. Establishes and conducts a comprehensive security education program for the brigade staff and subordinate units, which includes formal training classes in support of security education and awareness programs. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of progressively responsible specialized experience which includes experience with Communications Security (COMSEC); experience with access control; AND experience with either Personnel Security (PERSEC) OR Information Security (INFOSEC). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GG/GS-12). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. Education Additional Information This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. This is the Department of Defense (DoD) Security Certification Program directed by DoD Instruction 3305.13. It is approved by the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs for use in the Army via the following memorandum: Memorandum, Assistant Secretary of Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, dated 8 September 2015, subject: Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. The SPeD certification is DoD's initiative to professionalize the security workforce by establishing a common set of competencies for security practitioners that promotes interoperability, facilitates professional development and training, and develops a workforce of certified security professionals.
