Description

This position is responsible for the management of the Lee County Visitor and Convention Bureau's (VCB's) marketing efforts and the content it delivers, ensuring that brand message is consistent, timely, and integrated across channels. This individual will manage, direct and plan social media and website content and promotions, maintain partner and vendor relations, and focus on brand messaging. This individual also will have a demonstrated track record of excellence and an impeccable command of strategic thinking, creative writing, and media relations - especially in tourism, PR and marketing communications.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct social media content, promotions, and strategies.

  • Manage and direct eNewsletter content, both industry- and leisure-focused.

  • Oversee content creation and editorial updates for leisure, industry, and event websites, including personalization and overarching strategy.

  • Manage production of annual guidebook (printed and/or digital versions) and oversee all promotional efforts surrounding guidebook.

  • Develop and maintain industry partner relationships.

  • Plan and host industry education sessions on social media, website and digital marketing.

  • Oversee brand messaging for Fort Myers – Islands, Beaches and Neighborhoods.

  • Work collaboratively with industry partners on joint promotions, influencer trips, and site visits.

  • Assist in the development of annual Sales and Marketing plan and media plan.

  • Work with bloggers and social influencers to curate digital coverage of the destination.

  • Work on seasonal and special promotions.

  • Attend local association and chamber meetings and participate on select committees. Supervise marketing interns as needed.

Education, Experience, Licensing

Required Qualifications

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in hospitality, marketing, communications or closely related field and one year tourism, marketing, hotels, hospitality, or closely related experience.

  • Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in hotels or related hospitality field.

  • Supervisory experience.

Supplemental Information

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of marketing as they relate to the hospitality or tourism industry.

  • Ability to establish harmonious and effective working relationships with fellow employees, Board members, local officials, and hospitality partners to promote cooperation and understanding of VCB programs.

  • Ability to communicate effectively; both orally and in writing with the public and staff personnel. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Knowledge of computers, internet, and related software (Drupal, Canva, Basecamp, Google Docs, etc.)

  • Knowledge of geography, primarily the United States and Europe. Ability to travel to different conferences and planning meetings.

  • Ability to develop, prepare and present creative marketing presentations, ideas and solutions.

  • Ability to work independently with little direction to meet deadlines and schedules, plan and organize work, prepare and maintain files, records and reports.

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 35 pounds.

  • The work days and hours for this position are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. May include evenings, weekends and holidays. Some business travel is required.
