Defense Media Activity Information Technology Specialist (Network) in Fort Meade, Maryland

Summary This position is being filled under the Expansion of "Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense" dated December 22, 2023. This position is part of the Defense Media Activity. The incumbent applies extensive technical knowledge on a variety of disciplines including Information Technology management, Web Site management, Information, and data management (IM/DM), Enterprise Architecture, and installation IT support and services. Responsibilities This position is being filled under Title 5, United States Code, Section 9905, "Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense". As a Information Technology Specialist (Network) at the GS-2210-12 some of your typical work assignments may include: Ensures equipment and systems associated with signal distribution, transmitters, and satellite terminals are fully integrated and provide 24/7 broadcast and production operations. Innovate and improve technical support through innovative processes, and active collaboration while continuing to deliver value to clients and stakeholders. Ensures development and deployment of modern information and broadcast technologies to optimize capabilities. Coordinates with Host Nation telecommunications regulatory agencies to obtain approval and clearance for new frequencies and issues involving interference by or with AFN satellite, radio, and/or television distribution systems. Uses knowledge of systems and engineering to address system design flaws. Provides systems solutions engineering, architectural support, engineering consulting, pilot implementations, deployment support, and metrics of IT Enterprise technologies. Contacts key representatives of civilian agencies, commercial common carriers, vendors, and major defense communications/telecommunications contractors. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service as listed below: Managing network installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of equipment/systems to support organizational operation. Applying technical knowledge on a variety of disciplines including Information Technology management, Web Site management, Information, and data management (IM/DM), Enterprise Architecture, and installation IT support and services. Producing reoccurring reports, updates, briefings, and executive summaries outlining key activities in support agency projects, programs, plans, initiatives, and broadcast radio and television related incidents. OR Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study.
