Summary About the Position: This position is located at United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), ASSISTANT CHIEF OF STAFF,SAFETY OFFICE, at Fort Libety, North Carolina. Responsibilities Serves as Lead Safety and Occupational Health Specialist responsible for advising the US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) Commander and staff on matters pertaining to the safe operation and conduct of high risk training. Serves as Safety Program Manager for all Live-Fire/Explosive Safety Programs within the Command. Provides guidance, personnel management, and supervises activities of Federal civilian subordinates. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Applying knowledge of Live-Fire operations, Range operations, Explosives and demolitions operations sufficient to develop and implement new techniques and methods to resolve critical problems and hazards that arise from the high-risk training; 2) Applying knowledge of safety and occupational health management principles and procedures to resolve critical problems; and 3) Applying knowledge of safety and occupational health to manage operational tactical risks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Compliance Inspection and Program Management Policy Development Program Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent GS-12. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Two year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278) or a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
