U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Military Analyst (Lessons Learned) in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas

Summary About the Position: This position serves as a Military Analyst (Lessons Learned) within the Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL), Fort Leavenworth, KS. Eligible for situational telework ONLY, including emergency and OPM prescribed "unscheduled telework". Responsibilities As a Military Analyst (Lessons Learned), you will perform duties to include the following: Plan, research, write and publish the results of analysis in the form of handbooks, newsletters, articles and other forms of media as appropriate. Participate in relevant communities of interest to gain situational awareness and understanding of issues affecting the Army's ability to conduct the range of military operations and to facilitate shared understanding across community members. Plan and conduct collections to support research and analysis of assigned topics and issues in support of operational and institutional organizations. Analyze information in sufficient depth to identify all doctrine, organization, training, materiel, leadership and education, personnel, facilities, and policy (DOTMLPF-P) implications, gaps and root causes for those gaps. Collaborate and coordinate with corps, division and enabling unit commanders and staff to provide effective collection and analytical support of operational or institutional objectives and goals. Review operational plans, reports and supporting documents to understand the context behind the tactical, operational and strategic issues to enable issue resolution and/or mitigation with proponents and stakeholders. Provide support to the development of lessons learned capabilities across the operating and generating forces. Analyze higher headquarters orders to identify collection and analytical requirements required to accomplish directed objectives and goals. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes: Performing quantitative and qualitative analysis to produce lessons learned products supporting the continuing evolution of strategic, operational, or tactical requirements; to include after-action reports, studies, and other organizational performance improvement products. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Oral Communication Organizational Awareness Technical Competence Writing Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). NOTE: Applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcement. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
