Katmai Supply Technician in Fort Hood, Texas

SUMMARY

Perform limited aspects of technical supply management work (e.g., inventory management, storage management, cataloging, and property utilization) related to depot, local, or other supply activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assume operational control in the absence of the Logistics Manager.

  • Assist Logistics Manager in day-to-day operations. Assist in semi-annual and annual inventories.

  • Ensure requirements are met for skills, training, and cross training.

  • Review conducted inventories to ensure sufficient stocks are on hand and in serviceable condition.

  • Collect, review, and forward to the Logistics Manager all monthly status and work unit reports for Logistics Branch sections.

  • Ensure property is hand receipted IAW AR 710-2 and DA Pam 710-2-1.

  • Keep current with updated regulations and changes.

  • Ensure all work areas, storage areas, and offices are maintained in a high state of police.

  • Review document register. Logistics Manager will initial all high priority requests.

  • Identify excesses. Ensure appropriate documents are completed and delivered to IPBO expeditiously.

  • Sign documents for the Logistics Manager in their absence.

  • Ensure all receipt and turn-in documents are processed through IPBO within 48 hours.

  • Enforce policy of “NO CANNIBALIZATION”.

  • Perform grounds and facilities maintenance, as required.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of quality control and quality assurance procedures used on the Fort Hood Range Contract.

  • Follow established procedures to ensure achievement of quality, safety, and security standards.

  • Pick up and deliver items to and from supply and maintenance sources.

  • Conserve Government utilities.

  • Respond to changes in work schedules and off-hour call-ins.

  • Participate in formal training, on-the-job training, and cross-training activities.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead projects and oversee actions for Stock Clerk and Orders Clerk II.

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma required.

  • Ten (10) years working in the Army supply system.

  • Familiarity with operation of personal computer.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • A good working knowledge of the governing supply systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.

  • An understanding of the needs of the organization serviced.

  • Analytical ability to define or recognize the dimension of the problems involved, to collect the necessary data to establish the facts, and take or recommend action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines.

WORK SCHEDULE

Full-time. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.

TRAVEL

The expected travel time is less than 25%.

DRIVING REQUIREMENT

Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver’s license and be insurable on the company’s automobile insurance policy. Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required when traveling and/or short occasional amounts of local driving. The expected driving time is less than 25%.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a warehouse setting as well as outdoors in military training areas. Work is often performed outdoors, in adverse conditions including inclement weather such as high humidity, heat, cold, high wind, rain, and various local conditions. Employee often exposed to sharp objects and may be exposed to some heat, loud noise, chemicals, lead, and vibration. Katmai strictly adheres to the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) regulations. Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position consists of sitting for long periods of time, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting boxes weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequently uses hands/fingers for handling, to work with such hand tools as wrenches, screwdrivers, wire cutters, pliers, and soldering irons.
