U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command Administrative Services Technician in Fort Hamilton, New York
Summary About the Position: The Military Entrance Processing Station plays a vital role in maintaining the nation's military might by ensuring that each new member of the Armed Forces: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Space Force & Coast Guard, meets the high mental, moral & medical standards required by the DoD & the military services. Every MEPS represents state of the art in testing, examining & processing applicants for enlistment into the Armed Forces. Responsibilities As an Administrative Services Technician, you will: Account for current and incoming inventory items. Adhere to rules and guidelines while performing the duties of a Purchasing Agent. Track the status of assets utilizing automated systems. Independently evaluate the need for facility and equipment maintenance. Advise and assist Commander and staff members on all matters pertaining to motor vehicle management and maintenance. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Maintaining an automated inventory system to account for company's local and remote supply inventory; Resolving issues with supply requests to ensure required supplies can be obtained; Making approved purchases with a government or company credit card within established limits; Assisting in the management and/or maintenance of an organization's motor vehicle fleet. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-06). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer Literacy Decision Making Integrity/Honesty Inventory Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). If you are a current Federal employee, you must include your pay plan, series and grade in your work experience(s) on your resume submission and/or upload supporting documentation (within-grade increase SF50) to show that you meet the time-in-grade requirement. In addition, if your step reflects '00', you must include your current salary for each position. For this job, you must meet the qualifications requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
