Defense Commissary Agency Lead Financial Technician in Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia

Summary Serves as the Lead Financial Technician in a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) HQ location. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a focal point for more complex payroll/accounting problems and inquiries. Responsibilities Instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques, providing written instructions, reference materials and supplies as needed. Provide financial assistance pertaining to payroll to serviced customers and new employee. Ensure current leave regulations, policies, and reporting procedures are being followed in operating elements. Advise traveler on procedures on travel for home leave, education and reemployment. Maintain overall controls of all expenditure accounting for all commissary stores. Read the entire announcement before starting the application process. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 0503 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Your resume must clearly show that you have one year specialized equivalent to at least GS-7. Experience can be under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military. Experience: Must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level or equivalent to at least GS-07 under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military. Examples of qualifying experience include: Research and analyze employee pay related problems. Plan and Implement work for a variety of financial services (examination, audit and verification of TDY/PCS orders). Maintains status of work in progress, priority projects, backlog status and problem solving requiring supervisors assistance. You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Additional Requirements that must be met by the closing date: Time-in-grade applies to the promotion of current and former federal employees who hold or have held a permanent GS position in either the competitive or excepted service in the previous 52 weeks, including current employees applying under VEOA.
