Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join us in supporting one of our valued customers as a Test and Simulation Systems Engineer, Senior to work out of Ft. Eustis, VA.

Essential Duties:

  • Primary focus of this role will be modeling and simulation, architecture, and scenario building.

  • Execute interactive virtual tests, evaluations, and mixed live and virtual flight tests of experimental manned-unmanned teaming technologies in support of Science and Technology (S&T) programs for the Future Vertical Lift ecosystem.

  • Design and review requirements, metrics, and test cases to support testing of software and hardware solutions for manned and unmanned aerial platforms.

  • Recommend creative solutions to overcome integration challenges for systems with dissimilar interfaces, networking and messaging protocols and standards.

  • Develop detailed technical documentation and procedures as required to support test planning.

  • Provide detailed risk analysis and course of action recommendations to mitigate or resolve challenges identified during all phases of development.

  • Communicate clearly both orally and in writing to describe proposed solutions to software development and system integration personnel.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience with modeling & simulation of manned/unmanned aircraft systems, weapon models, sensor systems, environment, and threat models.

  • 10 years of relevant experience in simulation or flight testing for aviation systems with familiarity in UAS software autonomy

  • Familiarity with UAS command-and-control messaging standards.

  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation software products (Advanced Framework for Simulation Integration and Modeling (AFSIM), System Modeling Language (SYSML), MetaVR Virtual Reality Scene Generator (VRSG).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and provide leadership to teams with diverse skillsets.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook).

  • Experience with use of STANAG-4586, MAVLink, and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS).

  • Experience with testing of mission autonomy software or Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) solutions.

Education/ Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (systems, modeling and simulation, software) from an accredited university

  • A master’s degree in engineering may be substituted for two years of experience, 8 years of total experience

Required Clearance: Clearable (Ability to Obtain a Secret Clearance)

Travel: 25%
