Indian Health Service Custodial Worker in Fort Duchesne, Utah

Summary This position is for a Full Time, Permanent employee at the Fort Duchesne service unit located in Fort Duchesne, Utah. The Custodial Worker is responsible for the clinic which include four areas. The four areas are the U&O Health Center, the Office of Environmental Health Office, the wellness center, and nine government quarters (housing). Sanitize and deodorize office, corridors, examination rooms, treatment rooms, the dental department, pharmacy, wellness center, government quarters, and other assigned locations the supervisor directs the incumbent. Keep all restrooms in sanitary conditions including removal of dust, dirt, scrubbing stains, stripping and waxing the bathroom floors. Responsible for refilling and stocking paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizers, and soap dispensers. Collect and throw away trash, restock track bins on a daily basis. Handle medical waste and other infectious material in accordance with the U&O Clinic's safety and infection control policies. Terminal cleaning; sanitation and disinfection of a treatment room with patients that have highly infectious diseases. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Competencies/Abilities Rated: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. Ability to Interpret Instructions. Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean and in order). Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment. Dexterity and Safety Physical Effort: Moderate physical effort is required continuously in performance of manual cleaning tasks. Walking, standing long periods, requires bending, lifting, pushing, and climbing. There are occasional short periods of more physical effort when moving furniture and lifting of items over 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is done inside with adequate lighting, ventilation and occasionally outside when washing of windows, and outdoor clinics. Will be exposed to some mechanical hazards, some moving objects, crowded rooms/areas, and wet slippery floor surfaces, and icy streets. Will be subject to chapped hands from working with detergents and water. Subject to danger from cuts, bruises, and minor shocks from working with power machines. Subject to exposure to diseases being treated in the hospital, as well as blood and other bodily fluids. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Education There are no education requirements. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit. Recruitment or relocation incentives is not authorized.
