Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by implementing district-approved curriculum, documenting student progress and outcomes, addressing specific educational needs of individual students and creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment. Provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals.
Essential Functions
Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children
Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
Track children's progress and report to parents
Collaborate with other educators
Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
Develops and administers Preschool curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
Creates a welcoming and engaging learning environment for all students.
Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences.
Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by actively taking part in professional learning communities and other opportunities.
Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Encourages family engagement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Coordinates with other Preschool staff members to evaluate and assess curriculum and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation, lunch and recess.
Leads the development of Individual Educational Plans for students.
Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and district policy for the identification, progress-monitoring and IEP development and implementation.
Assists students and teaching staff in implementing students' IEP's and behavior management plans.
Coordinates with outside agencies, organizations and institutions
Coordinates with administrators and teaching staff to ascertain individual student's abilities and needs.
Works collaboratively with colleagues to make accommodations to instruction, curriculum and the learning environment to meet the learning needs of students.
Coordinates, schedules and provides feedback to paraeducators.
Performs other duties, as assigned.
Reliable work attendance is required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field applicable to Preschool.
License issued by Iowa BoEE for EC and ECSE
PreK - 3 Teacher, PK - 3 ….. - 106,
PreK - 3 Teacher, regular education / Special Education - 100
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
Excellent communication and instructional skills
Certification in child CPR
Knowledge of IQPPS
Knowledge of special education law, Department of Education requirements, and best practice.
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy enabling differentiation
Knowledge of Preschool school curriculum and concepts.
Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
Ability to use computer network systems, technology devices and software applications.
Ability to organize and coordinate work.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, coworkers and the greater community.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
Travel Requirements
