Akima Network Administrator (Secret Clearance Required) in Fort Devens, Massachusetts
As the major Army Reserve presence in New England, Devens Reserve Forces Training Area (RFTA) provides operational, training and logistic resources to tenant, transient training and stationed units and area customers; provides standardized, effective and efficient services, facilities, infrastructure and quality of life to Soldiers, Family Members, Retirees and Civilian Employees as applicable to support the training, readiness and operational capability for all components and branches of the joint force, accomplished through responsible execution of funds and effective conservation of natural resources. On order, provides Defense Support to Civil Authorities, as directed.
The US Army Signal Network Enterprise Center (NEC) Fort Devens, Massachusetts provides Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information Management (C4IM) Services to the United States Army Garrison (USAG) Fort Devens and its headquarters, the Reserve Command and Installation Management Command. Fort Devens Installation Campus Area Network (ICAN) is comprised of seven major nodes interconnected in a redundant hybrid mesh/tree configuration over single and multimode fiber optic cable that is connected to the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) through the Top-Level Architecture (TLA) stack via two separate redundant survivable high-speed circuits, providing access to the NIPRNET and the Internet. Currently the ICAN is post Network Modernization - CONUS (NETMOD-C) is on the Joint Regional Security Stack (JRSS). Deny-All-Permit by Exception (DAPE) firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) protect all logical entrances and Defense-In-Depth firewall protection is deployed throughout the ICAN and is primarily comprised of a Windows 10 and any other Windows-based Operating System environment with Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone devices.
Our Network Administrator will perform as a member of our comprehensive team supporting the various aspects of computer network administration and management within the disciplines of overarching network management, C4IM services, Cybersecurity services and automation for the customer within a primarily Juniper based environment.
Responsibilities
Reports directly to the onsite Project Manager.
Manage and maintain approved connections.
Operate and maintain Local Area Network (LAN) and domain connectivity between computers and associated devices.
Operate and maintain connectivity and operate ICAN between LANs and computer resources.
Manage dynamic allocation of unclassified internet protocol (IP) address space.
Assign and maintain unclassified IP address database using DHCP or Static IP Addressing and monitor IP Address utilization. Manage IP address blocks to tenant organizations and accomplish appropriate administrative registrations.
Develop and modify unclassified IP Assignment Schema.
Establish perimeter boundaries for IPs.
Monitor the ICAN and LAN by utilizing enterprise management software to monitor network performance, analyze network activity, and maintain network availability. Perform network discovery and conduct fault analysis.
Conduct event management on network infrastructure and monitor services.
Provide network utilization reports.
Manage network equipment/software to include configuration management and capacity management.
Operate and maintain common core (backbone infrastructure) network infrastructure.
Provide port authentication (ex.: 802.1x).
Report circuit outages. Provide local touch labor (troubleshooting, repairing, etc.) for Cyber Center assets within a NEC controlled facility.
Implement Ports, Protocols, Services (PPS) change requests for Army organizations.
Analyze information systems logs for security anomalies and unauthorized activities.
Perform Information Systems vulnerability scans IAW all DoD published regulations and policies.
Analyze event and time-based scans.
Report event and time-based incidents IAW all DoD published regulations and policies.
Perform research analysis to assess known or potential threats to all information systems.
Report compliance IAW applicable vulnerability management process.
Manage compliance reporting to ensure that vulnerability messages are acknowledged, corrective action implemented, extensions requested, compliance verified, and reporting data entered into required database/system.
Develop Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) to mitigate vulnerabilities.
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year experience as a Network Administrator with demonstrated experience in network management, troubleshooting, maintenance, and security.
Demonstrated experience with Juniper or Cisco based networks.
SECRET Clearance Required.
DOD 8570.01-M IAT II Certified in at least ONE of the following certifications:
Security+CE.
CCNA Security.
CSA+ .
GICSP.
GSEC.
SSCP.
DOD 8570.01-M IAT III Certifications are also acceptable (i.e. CASP+CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, etc)Current Juniper Networks Certification Program (JNCP) certification in any of the certification paths or within 6 months of hire.
Excellent customer service skills.
Able to work independently or as part of a team.
Clearance and DoD 8750.01-M IAT II certification must be delivered and validated at the time of application.
