The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Hazardous Materials Supply Specialist to support our government customer located at Fort Detrick, Maryland .

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Hazardous Waste Site Worker (40 hour) course satisfying the OSHA initial training requirements for general site workers as specified in 29 CFR 1910.120 (e)(3)(i) is required and must be completed (certification received) before beginning work at USAMRIID.

  • Educate, train, and ensure procedures and policies for safe handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous waste (HW) and hazardous material (HM) is in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Participate in the Spill Response Team and shall maintain all personal protective equipment, supplies and incident response materials. Spill response materials will be provided by USAMRIID. Workload: As needed

  • Manage and maintain library of regulations, product literature, Material Safety Data sheets (MSD) and field examinations to identify, collect, process, package and prepare hazardous materials and waste for temporary storage, disposal of all hazardous waste and material used and produced by USAMRIID functional areas. Workload: Approximately 15 actions per month

  • Coordinate pickup with Fort Detrick Garrison Hazardous Materials Management Office as needed to maintain a no greater than a 45 day on hand inventory. Workload: Approximately 4 actions per month

  • Coordinate and stage pick up and documentation of HW and HM from BSL-2 Satellite Accumulation Points (SAPs), BSL-3 and BSL-4 Airlocks, and universal waste collection sites. Complete HM and HW reporting requirements per applicable regulations/policy/SOP. Workload: Approximately 28 actions per month

  • Manage and maintain HW and recycling accumulation points and disposal sites along USAMRIID loading docks. Workload: Approximately 4 actions per month

  • Assist Medical Material Warehouse personnel in handling packages and shipments containing infectious and BSAT materials during receiving and shipping. Workload: Approximately 1 action per quarter

  • On an as needed basis, shall sign the manifest with the regulated medical waste that is picked up by the regulated medical waste contractor. Workload: Approximately 1-2 actions per quarter

  • Maintain the 90-day collection area and all related equipment and supplies in a clean, serviceable and inspectable condition.

    REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • High school diploma

  • Complete refresher courses upon expiration of the OSHA Hazardous Waste Site Worker certification.

  • Enrollment in the Biological Personnel Reliability Program (BPRP) for handling select agents - he or she must maintain enrollment.

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience handling hazardous materials.

  • Must attend/pass Hazardous Site Worker Training, 40-hour training, upon hire and before beginning work

    REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be either a U.S. Citizen.

  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a T3 investigation (NACLC) Clearance.

  • Eligibility in the Biological Personnel Reliability Program (BPRP) requires a favorable Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).

  • Applicants must meet eligibility requirements as regulated by Army Regulation 50-1 (AR 50-1)-http://www.fas.org/irp/doddir/army/ar50-1.pdf Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
