Description of Work Unit
At CSU Pueblo, the Information Technology team is a crucial part of the Colorado State University System, which encompasses CSU Fort Collins, CSU Pueblo, and CSU Spur. By working closely with university stakeholders and collaborating with IT teams across the CSU System, the Information Technology team located in Pueblo contributes to the system’s goals of innovation and excellence, fostering a dynamic and effective IT environment on campus.
Driven by its purpose statement: Innovating IT, Empowering CSU and its values of Community, Collegiality, Reliability, Service and Simplicity, its team members work across the CSU System and in collaboration with stakeholders on the various CSU campuses. Reporting to the Vice President of Information Technology/ CIO , our dedicated team delivers dynamic and innovative solutions to meet the diverse needs of our students, faculty, and staff. Position Summary
Colorado State University seeks a highly collaborative, innovative, and enthusiastic candidate for the position of System Administrator. Working for the Infrastructure and Systems Team, this position will provide system administration support at Colorado State University and work with members of a team to ensure production environments are maintained and healthy, document critical procedures and protocols, install and configure data center equipment, collaborate with campus partners on their infrastructure requirements, and continue to learn and research upcoming technologies beneficial to the university. This position will work in close collaboration with DoIT teams, particularly in networking, identity access management, and application development.
Required Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or similar degree OR any bachelor’s degree plus one or more years of professional experience. Candidates with a High School Diploma (or GED ) and 5 or more years of related professional experience will be considered for employment (without the required bachelors or other post-secondary education).
Demonstrated understanding of various operating systems, such as Windows and Linux
Preferred Job Qualifications
Familiar with networks and upgrading hardware and software
Configuration management with products such as Ansible
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Experience with VMware
Familiarity with cloud environments such as Azure or AWS
Practice strong documentation skills
Experience leveraging monitoring and logging systems
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Proactive
Ability to work well in a team environment

- Maintain and update servers and operating systems on the Division of Central IT’s core
infrastructure, both physical and virtual.
Identify and resolve potential problems and determine procedural solutions.
Install and repair data center equipment, working with vendors as required, and provide on-call support on a rotating schedule.
Communicate with staff on best approaches to resolve problems or improve efficiency.
Aide team members in creating high-quality, well-maintained infrastructure with a focus on security.
Assist other teams with server security and protocol requirements.
Add new features, fix bugs, and update code using a configuration management tool.
Create technical documents detailing defined procedures.
