Description of Work Unit
Residential Dining Services’ ( RDS ) mission is to deliver an outstanding dining experience crafted by an engaged team dedicated to social and environmental responsibility. RDS operates 5 dining centers, 2 convenience stores, a full bakeshop, and a warehouse. We employee more than 1,000 employees who serve 12,000 meals per day to the 6,000 students who live on campus.

Position Summary
The Foodservice Worker position actively prepares and serves food in a high-volume foodservice operation to assure the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer service are always achieved.
Decision Making
Actively cooks, prepares and portions food in a timely manner according to defined guidelines to meet required standards.
Assure quality standards of food, portioning, and customer service are met.
Assure quality and safety standards are met.
Model exemplary customer service to assure others see appropriate behaviors.
Work with Student Employees on food production, quality, and customer service.
Actively monitor food safety procedures and policies within their defined work area to assure all standards are met or always exceeded.
Assure cleanliness standards are always met, including directing staff to act when needed.
Position Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
Six months or more experience in a foodservice or retail operation.
Experience in a high-volume foodservice operation.
Certificate, Associates, or Bachelor’s Degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management from an accredited institution
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple activities and tasks with competing priorities.
Demonstrated interpersonal and verbal communication skills necessary for building and maintaining successful work relationships.
Exemplary customer service skills.
Demonstrated experience providing memorable customer service interactions with customers and collogues.
Food safety certification such as ServSafe.

Duty/Responsibility
Serve foods according to established standards and portions.
Assure foods that are served always meet the highest standards of quality and appearance.
Occasionally prepare foods using skills that include, but are not limited to, baking, roasting, sauteing, frying, grilling, broiling, steaming, chopping, measuring, and mixing.
Understand and safely use power operated foodservice production and cleaning equipment.
Meet defined food production standards guided by standardized recipes and menus.
Provide input on food production volume and inventory levels to assure services are not disrupted by outages.
Record and verify necessary food production and service temperatures to assure the highest standards of food safety are met continuously.
Monitor and restock food and supplies to prevent disruptions in service.
Conduct inventory.
Conduct opening and closing procedures in a defined work area.
Indirectly supervise Temporary Hourly Employees and Student Employee within a defined work area to assure staff are meeting defined standards of food production, quality, and safety.
