Description of Work Unit
The College of Business at Colorado State University is an AACSB -accredited business school that enrolls more than 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students in on-campus and online programs annually. Our 11 centers of excellence connect students with industry experts, offering opportunities to expand their networks and engage in experiential learning.
The College of Business Career Management Center provides comprehensive career services to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as alumni, of Colorado State University’s College of Business. Services include career counseling, assessment and development, internship and job search assistance, personal marketing for career opportunities, instruction of career courses, cultivating employer partnerships to advance career outcomes for students, and hosting employer events.

Position Summary
Works as a member of the Employer Relations team to assist in the development, planning, and execution of both student and employer-focused event programming. The ultimate goal is to plan and execute engaging opportunities for students/alumni of the College of Business, to engage in their career development while connecting them with great companies who are interested in their talent.
The Event Planning Coordinator position is a full-time special 12-month position with an initial one-year term, renewable contingent upon available funding, continued business needs, and satisfactory performance in the role.
The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the Career Management Center will not provide visa sponsorship for this position now or in the future.
Required Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
A minimum of 1 year event planning experience for internal or external clients
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Advanced computer skills using PC programs, databases and web-based communications platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, follow-through, and attention to detail required
Preferred Job Qualifications
2 or more years of event planning experience
Experience/ knowledge working with the Handshake Career Platform
Experience working with Salesforce
Professional commitment to CSU’s Principles of Community (Inclusion, Integrity, Respect, Service, Social Justice)
Experience planning or executing career events within a career services office
Experience building and managing client relationships

Duty/Responsibility
Works as a member of the Employer Relations team to assist in the development, planning and execution of both student and employer-focused event programming. The ultimate goal is to plan and execute engaging opportunities for students/alumni of the College of Business, to engage in their career development while connecting them with great companies who are interested in their talent.
Leads the execution of multiple career events each semester, including scheduling logistics, employer communication, vendor procurement, vendor scheduling and communication, and day-of-event preparation and management.
Conducts both student and employer engagement activities, including taking the lead in organizing and executing both virtual and in-person events. These events might include career fairs, networking events, career development programming, information tables, etc.
Contributes to event planning strategy and works with staff to execute strategy leading up to and on the day of events. Coordinates all event volunteer staffing and communicates staffing roles to office staff for the day of events.
Assists in the cultivation, communication, and ongoing relationship management of vendors that involve catering, equipment rentals, floral, venues, transportation, etc.
Responds to last-minute changes and issues that arise during events with a solution-focused attitude and an aptitude for problem-solving.
Demonstrates adaptability, flexibility, comfort with fast-paced change, attention to detail, and creating order in chaotic situations. Must have the ability to flex hours to meet the needs of the job, including some evenings throughout the semester. Serves as knowledgeable key contact to promote CSU’s College of Business to encourage employers to leverage the CMC’s services including posting jobs and internships, attending career events, building visibility and brand recognition with students as it relates to strengthening hiring pipelines for students. May partner/collaborate with other event staff in the College of Business on cross-departmental events.

Duty/Responsibility
Facilitates management of data related to events and employer activities, including work within Handshake and Salesforce. Compiles and tracks event engagement needed for departmental reporting.
Save and communicate event dates and information across multiple mediums such as Outlook, Handshake, and the Career Management Center website (uConnect) to keep students, employers, and staff informed about upcoming events.
Participates as a staff member in the full activities of the Career Management Center. Demonstrates ability and commitment to work effectively within a team and independently. Provides high quality customer service to various Career Management Center constituents.
