Description of Work Unit

The Department of Animal Sciences has the unique mission of serving Colorado’s large and diverse livestock industries. Research, teaching and extension outreach activities in the Department of Animal Sciences focus on developing industry leaders and improving profitable production of horses and food animals through the application of science and technology, resource management and food product enhancement, with emphasis on addressing societal issues concerning food safety, product quality and value, animal care and management, and environmental impacts of animal agriculture.

Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Position Summary

The department accepts applications on an ongoing basis from individuals who are interested in obtaining research positions within the department. The open position may be a temporary, special, or regular Research Associate (Level I or II) assignment and may be for limited time periods. This is an open pool, and applications will be forwarded to open positions as they become available.

Required Job Qualifications

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent specialized experience and/or training. Additional required qualifications, rank and salary determined by specific position to be filled.

  • Level Iis an entry-level position for individuals with a bachelor’s degree or commensurate specialized experience and/or training, and less than 3 years of professional experience.

  • Level IIincludes individuals with an RAI + 3 years experience or bachelor’s degree + 3 years of professional experience, or a Master’s degree.
