Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Purchasing Agent to join our team! In this role you will be responsible for purchasing products and services in support of DoD training events and exercises.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Performs market research/sourcing for program requirements to include small businesses (supplier diversity) and prepares market analysis of competitor products, pricing, promotions, packaging, trends, loyalty programs, and marketing initiatives, prepares detailed narrative to justify purchase, including sole source documentation, evaluates bids, selects, and recommends suppliers, negotiates price, delivery, quality, and service, follows up on all awards until completion of order, and develops purchasing packages with appropriate requests for proposal or quotes.

  • Complete purchase requests and make purchases via company provided purchase card when applicable.

  • Coordinate with corporate purchasing representatives to ensure all transactions are in compliance with existing corporate policies and federal procurement guidelines.

  • Consider factors such as price, quality, reliability, and technical support when choosing suppliers. Evaluate suppliers based on their capability and previous transaction history.

  • Negotiate contracts and prices with suppliers and vendors as well as volume and repeat transaction discounts.

  • Track orders and ensure that delivery deadlines are met.

  • Coordinate with the assigned DoD Program Manager to maintain inventory levels and report any supply chain issues.

  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.

  • Develop purchasing strategies to maintain bench stocks of equipment with long delivery times.

  • Use complex problem-solving skills to identify problems and develop creative solutions.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • BS/BA and 8+ years experience in business administration or relevant field. MS/MA and 6+ years experience will be considered a plus.

  • Proven experience as a purchasing agent or relevant role.

  • Demonstrable experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions.

  • Knowledge of market research, data analysis and purchasing best practices.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office and purchasing software (e.g. SpendMap).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A strong analytical mindset and outstanding organizational skills.

  • Must have a Secret clearance with an ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret in the future.
