U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command Investigative Operations Specialist in Fort Belvoir, Virginia

Summary About the Position: As an Investigative Operations Specialist you will provide operational support to United States Army Criminal Investigation Division (USACID) Special Agents in the conduct of criminal investigations, operations. Additionally, you will conduct liaison activities with local agencies and entities to ensure that USACID field offices can efficiently complete their mission. The position is located at Fort Belvoir, VA. Responsibilities Perform open-source research in areas such as: social media checks, service record book review, and law enforcement (LE) databases checks in support of criminal investigations. Utilize non-traditional investigative techniques/investigative strategies to make recommendations on case-related actions. Conduct analysis of surveillance information involving criminal activity which may include unauthorized requests for sensitive information, loss, compromise, leakage, and unauthorized disclosure of classified material. Summarize any actionable and/or situational awareness-related intelligence suitable for dissemination to DoD equities and the greater law enforcement community. Provide personal and executive protection operations in support of USACID's protectees. Conduct driving route analysis and route surveys to determine primary and alternate routes of travel. Specialized Experience GS 11: One year of specialized experience which includes assist with the implementation of protective instructions/procedures; prepare protective service reports for senior level management; and contribute ideas that lead to an effective protective services division. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Criminal Justice. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS 12: One year of specialized experience which includes implement protective service instructions/procedures; plan logistics for protective services and/or transportation; cover a designated security post for the protective services division; and prepare and present reports to senior level management on protective services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Specialized Experience GS 13: One year of specialized experience which includes utilize qualitative and quantitative methods to assess/improve protective service operations; complete criminal intelligence reports to exchange pertinent information with federal, state, local, and international partner law enforcement/intelligence agencies; apply knowledge of criminal laws, policies, regulations, and/or precedents to carry out criminal investigations; and evaluate the effectiveness of planning actions as related to protective service operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Criminal Investigation Investigative Analysis Investigative Reporting GS-11: Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). GS-12: Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). GS-13: Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
