Lifesprk Human Resources Director - Birchwood Health Care Center in Forest Lake, Minnesota

Description Birchwood Health Care Center, a Lifespark Skilled Nursing Community, is looking for dedicated and passionate Human Resources Director to join our growing team. Birchwood Health Care Center is home to seniors requiring TCU (Transitional Care Unit) Care and Long-Term Care. We are in Forest Lake, near North Shore Dr and Forest Lake. We have been helping seniors Age Magnificently since 1979 and are part of Senior Care Communities, a local non-profit supporting seniors. Schedule Available: FT Mon-Fri day shift Wage: $65,000-$75,000 Position Summary Responsible for Human Resources functions within the skilled nursing facility including: creating and maintaining personnel files, completion of required reporting for outside agencies, statistical records maintenance, organizing and conducting general orientation, working closely with staff, employee relations, processing of unemployment, processing all new hire and termination paperwork, front line benefits administration, payroll, assisting in the development of and instituting recruitment and retention strategies to maintain a stable work force in the facility, and work closely with the Executive Director regarding union negotiations and grievances. Position Functions and Responsibilities Partner with Nursing Staffing Coordinator, Staff Development Director, and Department heads to determine positions to be filled. Watch trends and prepare for heavy hiring times, working closing with Talent team. Work with the talent acquisition to ensure timely and accurate postings of positions. Spearhead advertising for open positions. Post on internet sites, Care Providers of Minnesota site, internal paper postings, newspaper ads, etc. as appropriate for position available. Work with the company recruiter to ensure timely and accurate posting of positions. Interview and hire nursing assistants. Follow proper procedures using structured interviews in accordance with applicable state and federal laws. Manage with hiring managers interviews and job offers. Source and coordinate participating in job fairs and other sources of applicants needed to fill positions as soon as possible. Process appropriate paperwork for new hires and resignations/terminations. Assure all personnel and employee medical information is properly filed and that confidentiality is maintained. Provide a high level of communication on employee wage and benefit issues. Manage and maintain scheduling, preparing for, and conducting new employee general orientation and re-orientation as scheduled. Ensure orientation covers all necessary and regulatory topics. Involve appropriate department heads. Manage and monitor employee attendance. Function as first line benefits administrator. Distribute information to new hires, process enrollment paperwork. Answers questions from employees regarding premium rates and coverage dates. Refers coverage and eligibility questions from employees to appropriate insurance carrier. Functions as the FMLA administrator, while working with corporate Human Resources team. Monitors worker's compensation claims and compliance with OSHA record keeping and reporting work work-related employee injuries. Clarifies standard Human Resources practices for department heads. Refers questions regarding unusual circumstances to corporate Human Resources team. Participates in Human Resources related committees such as recruitment and retention, safety committees and others as assigned by Executive Director. Performs job in safe manner according to established safety procedures and encourages and supports others in the safe performance of job duties. Participates in and supports Quality efforts throughout the facility. Collects data and completes EEO and AA reports. Participates in all union negotiations and assist in responding to any union grievances or issues. Performs in: an inside environment, adequ te lighting, possible exposure to infectious diseases and unpleasant sights and smells. Hears, speaks, feels and communicates to perform essential job functions. Adapts to emergency situations. Uses good verbal and written communication to interact with residents, staff and departments to promote resident well-being and motivate others. Maintains a safe and sanitary environment. Abides by the facility's policies, procedures and practices. Maintains acceptable attendance levels. Performs other duties as directed, including participation in customer service rounds, audits, manager on duty rotations, survey preparation and resident interviews. Manages and maintains all functions of payroll and payroll functions. Qualifications Experience and Education Associate degree/Bachelor's degree or equivalent HR experience and 1-2 years experience as an HR Generalist in a healthcare setting or industry with 24/7 coverage is preferred. Working knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must be able to relate professionally, positively, and cooperatively with residents, resident's families and employees. Must possess proficient computer skills, including email use. Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance. Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry.
