Be a Key Player in Transforming Lives as a Mental Health Technician (MHT)!
Are you passionate about helping others and creating a positive impact? As a Mental Health Technician (MHT), you’ll provide compassionate, hands-on care to individuals served, working under the guidance of licensed nursing staff. You’ll be an essential member of the treatment team, fostering a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment while serving as a positive role model.
In this dynamic role, you’ll supervise individuals served in a treatment setting, maintain a secure and healing atmosphere, and effectively respond to crisis situations. If you’re ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others, this is the opportunity for you!
Key Responsibilities
Care and Safety Provides care to individuals served with a focus on safety, patient rights, comfort, and maintaining a therapeutic environment under the direction of licensed nursing personnel.
Supervision and Behavior Management Contributes to individual treatment plans through "line of sight" supervision, positive interaction, role modeling, scoring behaviors, and enforcing consequences or limits per program guidelines.
Crisis Intervention Provides crisis intervention by anticipating escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques, following restraint protocols, and prioritizing safety concerns with neutral emotions.
Daily Living Assistance Assists individuals served with activities of daily living, including nutrition, rest, exercise, and hygiene.
Facility Safety and Monitoring Maintains safety and security through close observation, proactive intervention in unsafe situations, and completing 15-minute safety checks with appropriate documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Associates degree from an accredited college or university in a human services field.
Experience:
One (1) year direct care experience in a mental health or forensic mental facility, security residence or facilityrequired.
Preferred: Healthcare, mental health or human services experience.
