Sunny Patch Learning Center Childcare Center Assistant Director in Flint, Michigan

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This is a full-time position responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating, and controlling services of the childcare center. The center director should be able to make sound judgments utilizing decision-making authority as delegated, including policies, procedures, staff supervision, and ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all children within the center's care. The employee fulfilling this job is expected to complete assignments with a high standard of accuracy, attention to detail, and timely completion of work. This position works under the direction of the Site Director and Owner.

CHILDCARE CENTER ASSISTANT DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Directly accountable for overall operational management in accordance with well-established guidelines, including curriculum development, staff and management of the facility, legal and budgetary considerations, and long-range planning.
  • Work closely with teaching teams/center staff to maintain a passionate and nurturing culture for children.
  • Support teachers in the implementation of the curriculum.
  • Able to fill in for staff when needed.
  • Outgoing & energetic.
  • Operate the center in conformance with center policies.
  • Communicate with new/interested parents and manage the child enrollment process.
  • Use strong leadership and problem-solving skills on the job.
  • Use creative skills to advertise and recruit children and staff for the center.
  • Able to create and coordinate scheduling, staff training, Ages & Stages Questionnaire, and curriculum development.
  • Ensure that all needs of the students and the overall goals of the center are met.
  • Create a clean, safe environment conducive to learning and promoting social relationships.
  • Adhere to adult-to-child classroom ratios as set by daycare licensing.
  • Maintain compliance with daycare licensing and DHHS regulations.
  • Ensure that all health and developmental screenings are up to date.
  • Ability and desire for personal and professional growth and skill development.
  • Must be self-sufficient/self-motivated and able to make good decisions.
  • Work to promote the center's success by being supportive, flexible, and a team player.
  • Adhere to center personnel policies.

CHILDCARE CENTER ASSISTANT DIRECTOR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree or 18 college credit hours in early childhood education
  • CPR & First Aid Certification
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification
  • Able to pass a Background Check

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 year experience as a director

SALARY:

  • $17 per hour

SCHEDULE:

  • Full-time day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Flexible schedule. Must be available to work outside of center operating hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

  • In person

SUPPLEMENTAL PAY TYPES:

  • Bonus opportunities

Benefits:

  • Closed for major holidays with pay after 90 worked days of employment. 
  • 3 personal days after 150 worked days. 
  • 1-week paid vacation after 1 year.
