Job Description

Northern Arizona University (NAU) in beautiful Flagstaff, Arizona- a top rated college and mountain town that is the hub of the beautiful Grand Canyon, Sedona, and Four Corners region of the American Southwest- seeks two (2) Postdoctoral Scholars to join Dr. Wang\'s Metrology Research and Teaching Laboratory (https://ac.nau.edu/\jw2575/) in NAU\'s School of Informatics Computing and Cyber Systems. These scholars will conduct research in measurement sciences, tools, innovative manufacturing metrologies, novel assurance and provenance technologies and advanced metrology testbeds in microelectronics and semiconductor fields. In particular, we are seeking individuals with quantitative and qualitative research expertise and teaching experience. The Postdoctoral Scholars are expected to perform data collection, data analysis attend project-related meetings, workshops, and teach a course as needed. Publications and presentations are expected to result from the project activities.

Desired qualifications include a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, along with strong quantitative, data analysis, programming, data visualization, and scientific writing skills, with an emphasis on skills in metrology, measurement, and quality control. Research & Publications - 80%

  • Conduct metrology experiments and collect data using established receipts and protocols or develop new ones.
  • Analyze and interpret metrology data.
  • Write research reports and manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest research in metrology fields.
  • Meet regularly with the faculty advisor to discuss research progress.
  • Present research findings at lab meetings, conferences, or other scientific events.
  • Collaborate with other researchers in the MRTL lab.

Teaching & Training - 10%

  • Develop curriculum and courseware for workshops, short courses, or metrology certification programs.

Other - 10%

  • May be involved in supervising undergraduate or graduate students.
  • May help with writing grant proposals to secure funding for metrology research.
  • May also involve teaching duties and developing courses.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qu lifications

  • Demonstrated experience with quantitative data analysis, programming, data visualization, and scientific publication, with an emphasis on metrology, measurement, and quality control and improvement.
  • Demonstrated track record of scientific research and publication.
  • Industry experience in metrology and quality control.
  • Experience in teaching and training.
