The Arc of Opportunity Program Director of Family Support in Fitchburg, Massachusetts

T he Program Director of Family Supports is responsible for oversight of various contracts working with individuals with disabilities and their families. This position works closely with other directors in the organization as well as the development team to effectively provide services to families. The Program Director of Family Supports directly supervises all Family Support staff and volunteers. The Program Director will oversee the weekend and evening recreation program including, but not limited to, theater performances, art exhibits, festivals, and sporting events, self-advocacy groups and virtual activities. This position has a lead role in organizing and facilitating advocacy events for individuals and families supported by The Arc.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm (40 hr/week) Flexibility to work other/weekend hours are required for overnight trips, healthy relationship groups, events.
Responsibilities:
Responsible to research and be knowledgeable of resources for families supporting individuals with disabilities.
Responsible for multiple contracts including AWC, DESE, and peer support. This position will complete case management hours on a weekly basis, supervise staff, and do monthly contract billing.
Responsible for hiring and training all staff. Following up with adult Peer Support participants on a monthly basis.
Oversee the budget and complete monthly billing for all Family Support contracts.
Responsible to create curriculum and facilitate Healthy Relationship classes and self-advocacy groups for individuals and family members.
Must be familiar with the state budget and all relevant issues that affect individuals with disabilities.
Oversee and be a back-up staff for the Weekend Recreation group.
Develop and facilitate monthly Family Support Group Meetings. Identifying current needs and direction of group participants.
Responsible for coordinating, budgeting, overseeing volunteers and facilitating several weekend recreation trips as well as a big 5-7 day trip annually.
Qualifications:
A Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and CORI is required at all times during employment with The Arc of Opportunity.
Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of experience providing case coordination and making community connections for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Functional and situational reasoning to follow policy, problem solve, exercise sound judgment, prioritize multiple tasks, and crisis manage.
Knowledgeable about community resources to better assist individuals served in achieving their goals while seeking to empower and enhance their quality of life.
Cross functional communication skills, written and oral, which convey clear and concise information in a professional and respectful manner to individuals supported, families/guardians, peers, community partners and all employees throughout the organization.
